The aim of the initiative "Creation & Upgrading of Emergency Departments" implemented by MYTILINEOS in collaboration with the Association "Treatment of Child Trauma", is the contribution to the creation and upgrading of Emergency Departments (ICUs) in the country. with priority on the areas of the local communities where the company operates, but also the wider information of parents and teachers on the issues of child injuries by participating in the program "Prevention of Child Accidents" by publishing and distributing specialized leaflets "School Safety", " "Home safety", "Safe sports", and "Beware of burns" as prevention remains the most effective treatment for child injuries. Accidents are the leading cause of death and disability of children in our country. It is noted that 50% of serious injuries occur in the so-called safe areas (42.5% at home and 10.4% at school), which indicates the continuing need to inform parents and teachers about injury issues. According to data, about 500,000 children are injured every year in Greece, of which 700 die and 3,000 remain disabled, a fact that could have been reduced if there was immediate treatment within the Pediatric Hospital. The Emergency Department is the link between pre-hospital and in-hospital care for the specialized, immediate and effective treatment of acute cases as well as the stabilization of the injured child who is admitted to the hospital.
