Recognizing the threat of Climate Change and demonstrating its awareness of the need to address the Greenhouse Effect, METKA has designed and implemented a system for the recording and reporting of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, in accordance with the International Standard ISO 14064. The implementation of this system aims to record and quantify the GHG emissions released as a result of the Company’s activities in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (CO2e). The Company employs appropriate metrics to evaluate its Carbon Footprint and is committed to managing its greenhouse gas emissions by taking suitable measures and applying state-of-the-art practices, where feasible. Using 2013 as the reference year, METKA in annual basis issues a GHG Emissions Report which is verified by an Independent Accredited Verification Organisation.

The implementation of this initiative is a purely voluntary. Also, it consists the first implementation in Greece of a certified inventory management and reporting System of GHG emissions, in accordance with the requirements of international standard ISO 14064-1:2006.
Company has established and documented its operational boundaries and the identified GHG emissions and removals associated with the company operations are categorized into direct emissions and removals, energy indirect emissions and other indirect emissions, according to the following explanations.
• Energy indirect GHG emissions: from the generation of imported electricity, heat or steam consumed by the company
• Other indirect GHG emissions: can include commuting and business travel by employees, transportation of products and materials (outsourced activities), etc.
METKA S.A has finalized the operational boundaries of its operations, and as mentioned before these include all its facilities and their operational needs, the Worksites Management, the fuel consumption, the process emissions, the consumption of imported electricity, the transportation of materials / products between the sites, the transportation of materials / products from suppliers and to costumers and the business travel by employees.
