The disasters caused by the fires, which affect the forest wealth of our country every summer, are enormous, complementing the damages that the climate crisis has in store with extreme natural phenomena in the natural and residential environment. The management of catastrophic risks is a subject of particular interest for INTERAMERICAN not only operationally, but also through the international commitments that the company has undertaken at an institutional level for sustainable development and social responsibility.
The company, as a member of the Global Compact since 2008 - through the GC Network Hellas since its establishment this year - and the Environment Program Financial Initiative of the UN, has adopted the Principles of the Universal Compact, as well as the global Goals for Sustainable Development (UN SDGs) as a whole, also responding in practice to the environmental Goals (13, 14 and 15). At the same time, it has been drafted with all the important Declarations and Initiatives during the last decade, from the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (2012) to the New Deal for Europe last year and the Statement of Business Leaders this year, for the contribution of the global business community to the green economy and to deal with climate change.
