2018 until today.
A) Continuous Communication with the local educational institutions of all Crete (primary and secondary education) for information of the educational programs, which are designed and implemented in the Vikelaia Municipal Library of Heraklion, resulting in the participation of thousands of students in the educational programs every year.
B) Creation of online educational programs which we communicated in the schools of all Crete during the pandemic, so that the contact of students and teachers with the library is not interrupted.
C) Interconnection of the library with the National Library of Greece (EBE) in order to become part of educational programs that are run jointly by all members of the Hellenic Library Network under the umbrella of EBE.
D) Cooperation with the Deputy Mayor of Education and planning for the introduction of the BDB Educational Program "Windows to the World" in the UNESCO umbrella for "Learning Cities"
E) Promotion of the programs with the assistance of the printed and electronic local press
F) Organization of a special department in BDB in charge of the design and implementation of educational programs
G) The equal participation of the disabled, Roma children and refugee children by designing the programs to meet the particularities of each group
H) The emergence of good practices for education related to gender identities with a special program that highlighted the hidden differences based on the identity of each person according to gender and suggested solutions so that differences become a motivator and not a brake on the development of each person.
The extroversion and collaboration with other educational institutions in the communication of educational programs to the educational public has resulted in a very significant increase of students and teachers participating in the programs from a few tens or hundreds in the previous years to a few thousand per year.
With reference point the Vikelaia Municipal Library have participated in all our educational programs, live or online, schools outside Heraklion (Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra, Rethymno, Agia Galini etc.)
Primary and secondary education, schools, museums, other libraries (twinning with the library of Kalamaria, Thessaloniki for a specific program of EBE, cooperation with newly established libraries such as the Lassithi Plateau, etc.).
The promotion of the library to the general student and educational public of Crete and to the citizens of Heraklion in particular.
The display of the library's treasures through their inclusion in educational programs in the form of a tour, which are shaped in terms of how they communicate depending on the age groups to which they are addressed.
The upgrade and development of the library due to the cooperation with other institutions and libraries but also to the increased requirements to which it is now called to meet.
