The Pankritio Stadium, after its concession to the Municipality of Heraklion by the Olympic Properties in 2009, was awarded in 2013, as one of the best Sports Centers in our country, after an electronic competition implemented by a private company within the program "I Support Sports" with A cash prize of € 10,000 for upgrading its services and equipment.
A total of 10 Municipal and National Sports Centers from all over Greece participated in the electronic competition that was held. The Pankritio Stadium, gathered more than 140,000 electronic votes, winning the first place. Its daily and uninterrupted operation, despite the difficult economic times, its daily use by a large number of athletes and sportsmen of different ages, the hosting of more than twenty sports clubs of different sports and the implementation of more than one hundred cultural and sporting events annually in it. overall reflects its importance in the development of sports in the city of Heraklion and the wider region.
