A) The Local Government Organization, Municipality of Heraklion
B) The external urban environment.
The Local Government system for decision making
Citizens, to facilitate participation
The business community for creating marketable applications.
From 2015 until today.
The website smartcity.heraklion.gr was created to promote the vision of the Municipality of Heraklion for a smart city, the city that tries to address public issues with the help of information and communication technologies, based on a participatory process.
Promotes the projects it implements in areas such as e-Government, Energy and Environment, Mobility and Transport, etc.
The innovation of the website is the collection, visualization and disposal for use of the City Data. Economic, demographic, social, environmental data with the ability to monitor changes in real time.
Creating a digital "market" of urban data.
An incentive for the local ecosystem to participate in city life and demand change through informed decision-making and new forms of social mobilization, which are possible thanks to new possibilities of communication and access to information. Creating opportunities for citizens and businesses to take advantage of diverse data, foster innovation, promote economic growth and create jobs.
In practice, too, citizens have equal rights to access information, which in itself is a means of reducing social exclusion and increasing participation.
It concerns data from the city of Heraklion.
