Objective Action

The Group of Companies J&P Avax established together with the Italian group Sorgenia SpA, Volterra aiming to be active in Greece and the Balkans in all sectors of energy production, prioritising though the use of alternative energy sources, as well as be active in the distribution and trading of energy.

Volterra aims to gradually become a key player in the energy sector of Greece, mainly, but also the Balkans and the Southeastern Mediterranean region by producing energy with respect to the environment, emphasizing in the alternative energy sources production and by capitalising the technical know-how of the shareholding group of companies.

Description

VOLTERRA S.A. (www.volterra.gr) was established in 2010 by the Italian group SORGENIA SpA and the Greek group J&P AVAX, owned 50:50. Volterra is the vehicle by which both groups intend to acquire a significant position in the energy sector in Greece, the Balkans and the Southeastern Mediterranean, in general. The company will invest in all kinds of energy production units/plants emphasizing in the use of renewable sources. In addition, with the involvement in energy trading. Volterra aims at gradually becoming a key player in the energy market of the region. The company is also capitalizing on both groups’ cumulative expertise and technical know-how regarding the production, trading and marketing of electricity as well as the construction of large thermal power plants.

Volterra is an energy production and trading company involved in all kinds of electrical energy production and specifically in:

1. Thermal plants.
2. Wind parks.
3. PV parks.
4. Hydroelectric plants.
5. All other RES technologies (geothermic, biomass).

Also, having recently obtained a 300 MW trading license, Volterra will soon become involved in the wholesale and retail electricity market.

Impact on Society

Within the first years of operations, the company has built a customer base of 500 consumers that benefit from competitive prices and consume energy that is not derived from the environmental hazardous lignite. Volterra in the energy production sector develops projects of Alternative Energy Sources, emphasizing mainly in wind farms. Within this framework, the company currently holds a portfolio of 500MW of total power supply in various stages of licensing, of which the 115MW are wind farms ready for construction, 140MW are wind farms that have a reached a mature stage of licensing, while 4MW are solar panel stations. In parallel, within the continuous development of the company process, Volterra is in discussions with other investors for the development and finalisation of alternative energy sources projects with a total power supply of 200MW.
