The company has embraced the strictest standards for transparency. Systems such as a sophisticated chart of rights and responsibilities, segregation of duties and a structured audit system and reporting tools, shape a robust internal controls environment.
In this context, the implementation of the new Code of Business Conduct was begun in order to sets certain standards of behavior for all employees and executives of the Group as well as for suppliers of goods and services. The code is designed to build trust at all levels.
The Code of Business Conduct supports and accompanies the Principles. It is consistent with the global code of the LafargeHollcim Group but reflects the circumstances and legal requirements that apply to our business in Greece. It was first set out and released to Heracles employees in 2015.
The Code offers guidance and provides examples to help employees when they are confronted with challenging situations in daily work. It also contains references to LafargeHolcim policies, relevant laws, and regulations because these provide the background for many of the topics included in the Code and our Compliance Program.
All employees and executives, regardless their position, must follow during the execution of their duties the rules that the code introduces, which are part of their responsibilities. All employees and executives must safeguard that these rules are implemented also by the members of the team or the persons they manage.
LafargeHolcim strives to create an environment where honesty and accountability flourish and compliance is a central focus. Using common sense and good judgment together with the Code and LafargeHolcim policies and directives will usually be sufficient to ensure business is conducted with integrity. Our Code cannot anticipate every situation we might encounter in the workplace, but it will help us to make sound and ethical decisions.
