September 2014
The Comenius program is a program which focuses on the first phase of education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools. It seeks to develop knowledge and understanding among young people and educational staff of the diversity of the European cultures, languages and values. It helps young people acquire the basic life skills and competences necessary for their personal development, for future employment and for active citizenship.
Some of the goals of this program are:
• To encourage language learning, innovative ICT-based content, services and better teaching techniques and practices.
• To enhance the quality and European dimension of teacher training.
• To improve pedagogical approaches and school management.
The network where Greece is, includes also Turkey, Romania, Spain, Finland, Poland and Lithuania. The Greek delegation has already visited Poland, Turkey and Romania and in September the delegations from the aforementioned countries visited Greece and more particularly this school from Mandra.
The designed hospitality program had:
• Discussions on environmental issues.
• Visits and tours in the Acropolis museum, in Parthenon, in the Ancient market, in Epidaurus and other places.
This program expressed more or less the exchange of educational know-how, like our Group does all these years, apart from supporting cultural diversity.
