The Coca-Cola System in Greece (Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon & Coca-Cola Hellas), in line with its commitment to the responsible management of natural resources and raw materials in order to ensure sustainable development, created the “Mission Water” program, which is financially supported by The Coca-Cola Foundation and local resources, in full alignment with the EU Water Framework Directive. The program aims to help mitigate the problem of water shortage, protect the good ecological status of wetlands and coastal ecosystems, inform and sensitize the general public about the proper management of water resources, and foster open dialogue with stakeholders.
Local residents, professionals (e.g. agricultural and livestock farmers) and networks of active citizens in island regions, Local Government, social bodies, members of Non-Governmental Organizations, the general public.

“Mission Water” comprises a range of programs for the sustainable management of water resources and for raising public awareness, which are carried out in many Greek regions:
The “Rainwater Harvesting Program”, carried out in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean, local authorities of the islands in the Municipalities of Cyclades and the Dodecanese, and the Mediterranean Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), has significantly improved living conditions for 49,000 local residents in 29 islands of Cyclades and the Dodecanese.

29 islands of Cyclades and the Dodecanese, Crete and Lesvos.
For the successful implementation of this program, the Coca-Cola System in Greece (Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon & Coca-Cola Hellas) has developed multiple partnerships in order to effectively meet significant challenges, such as the differentiation of needs between regions, the technical complexity of the projects and the public awareness activities.
The key participants in the Program are the following:
The nature of the projects, which require highly technical expertise and specialized personnel, does not allow for the participation of employees in their implementation. Employees are informed of the progress of the activities and of the results achieved by means of internal announcements, videos and photographic material.
The “Mission Water” program affirms in practice the commitment of the Coca-Cola System in Greece (Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon & Coca-Cola Hellas) to making tangible and consistent investments in the sustainable management and protection of water, which is a key ingredient of our products.
In addition, our “Water Mission” program contributes to the attainment of the global goal of Coca-Cola and its bottling partners around the world, which is to return to nature and to the local communities a quantity of water equal to that used in our production process and in our products.
It should be mentioned that this target was achieved this year, five years ahead of 2020 – the target year initially set – and remains our global commitment for the future.
