Volunteering & NGO Partnerships

BUSINESS: 582 PRACTICES
With 19 hotels & resorts in the most beautiful destinations of Greece, Mitsis Hotels has been a tourism pioneer for over 45 years now, offering excellent service, great locations, impeccable facilities, sophisticated dining and a broad spectrum of options for its clientele, all in a sustainable manner.
Mitsis Group aims to place social solidarity at the core of its sustainability strategy by enhancing the quality of life in the local communities where it operates. The Group seeks to foster a strong culture of volunteerism among employees and guests, while strengthening the capacity of local organisations that address critical social needs.
The initiatives target both internal and external stakeholders, including Mitsis Group employees, hotel guests, and local communities in need. Vulnerable populations served by partner NGOs, such as children, patients, and disadvantaged groups, are also key beneficiaries.
The Blood Donor Association was established in 2017 and continues as an ongoing programme. Partnerships and volunteering activities have developed over time and remain integral to the Group’s long-term sustainability strategy.
One flagship project is the Mitsis Group Blood Donor Association, established in 2017 to mobilise employees and guests to support local blood banks and urgent health needs. The Group also maintains over 15 partnerships with national and local NGOs covering a broad spectrum of social issues such as health, child protection, education, and poverty alleviation. Guests can contribute donations during the booking process, and employees are encouraged to volunteer in community projects.
Since 2017, over 781 blood units have been collected through the Blood Donor Association, benefiting patients and strengthening local blood banks. More than 15 NGO partnerships have been developed, enabling broad support for vulnerable groups. Guest donations and employee volunteering directly contribute to improving social welfare services in the communities served.
The initiatives take place primarily in the regions where Mitsis Group operates hotels, including both local communities and national settings throughout Greece.
Mitsis Group collaborates with a wide network of NGOs including the Hellenic Red Cross, Make-A-Wish Greece, Ark of the World, and many local organisations. These partnerships involve financial support, in-kind donations, and active engagement of the Group’s employees and guests in volunteering activities.
Employees play a key role by volunteering in various local NGO projects, ranging from food distribution and social care to environmental and educational activities. This fosters a culture of collective responsibility and strengthens employee engagement with social causes.
Through these efforts, Mitsis Group enhances its social footprint and reinforces its commitment to social sustainability. The initiatives build goodwill, foster employee pride and loyalty, and engage guests in meaningful social responsibility, aligning the Group’s hospitality excellence with broader social goals.
