The creation of an innovative mechanism of the Region of Central Macedonia, which will support and strengthen the coordination of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUPs) developed by the Municipalities in the current period, with the aim of increasing their effectiveness and efficiency in metropolitan and regional level.

The Action Plan for the promotion of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in the Region of Central Macedonia (PKM) was drawn up and is being implemented within the framework of the European project REFORM (Integrated REgional Action Plan For Innovative, Sustainable and Low CaRbon Mobility), which is co-financed by the INTERREG Europe program . The REFORM project aims to increase the number of cities that will implement an EMP in four European regions: Central Macedonia (Greece), Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Greater Manchester (Great Britain) and Parkstad Limburg (Netherlands), through the strengthening of the central role attributed to the Regions as supporters not only of large, but also of small and medium sized Municipalities for the drafting and implementation of the SBAK.
For the formulation of the Action Plan, the PCM followed the following steps: 1.Analysis of the existing situation, 2.Meetings for the exchange of know-how, 3.Evaluation of good practices and 4.Consultation actions. The PKM Action Plan that was finally formulated for the promotion of SBAK proposes:
The Action Plan was warmly and widely accepted by the stakeholders.
In specialized seminars, 12 employees and executives of PKM were trained in the development and implementation of a SBAK according to the instructions of ELTIS (The Urban Mobility Observatory) and they were certified as trainers. It was followed by the new trainers, the training of employees and executives of the municipalities of PKK so as to create a channel of communication between the interested parties through the important executive personnel who were trained for the development and implementation of a SBAK according to the instructions of ELTIS throughout the territory of the PKK.
At a special event, a Declaration of Intent for Cooperation was signed between the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki of the PKK and the eight Municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Thessaloniki within the framework of the Observatory of Sustainable Urban Development of the Urban Region of Thessaloniki. Through this collaboration, the creation of a channel of communication and cooperation is promoted for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SMPs) with the aim of promoting unified planning for mobility projects at the metropolitan level and the further utilization of the data collected by the agencies involved.
REGION OF CENTRAL MACEDONIA
For this Action Plan, the Region of Central Macedonia cooperated and will continue throughout the plan to cooperate with:
a. the Central Macedonia Regional Development Fund, which was established in 1997, according to Law 2218/94, as amended by Law 2307/95 article 12 par.10 and by Law 2503/97 article 4 par.3. , and is supervised by the Ministry of the Interior. It is a Legal Entity under Private Law and is managed by the Board of Directors and the President.

b. the Institute of Sustainable Mobility and Transport Networks (I.MET.) belongs to the National Center for Research and Technological Development (EKETA) which is a Legal Entity, Private Law, non-profit, supervised by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (G.G.E.T.) of the Ministry of Development and Investments.
The Action Plan for the promotion of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in the Region of Central Macedonia (PKM):
