"Deliver Hope" program aims at supporting socially vulnerable groups as well as developing cooperation necessary for the accomplishment of socially beneficial goals, and is inspired by the motto "Let’s offer parcels of hope that exude... Hope!"
Furthermore, our corporate goals include connecting our services to society by sharing our resources, creating the necessary conditions for the development of relations with our external stakeholders, promoting internal volunteerism and inspiring social solidarity among our employees, through the development of a multilayered program.
The program reaches out to socially vulnerable groups -children and their families- via the beneficiary organizations that support them. Furthermore, it invites the participation of companies that are our customers/associates and their employees, as well as our network of people and associates.
The program runs yearly from October to January.
October 17th -the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty- is the occasion for launching the social initiative “Deliver Hope". We the people of TNT organize and coordinate a large assistance network. In this effort we are not alone. We invite our customers, our suppliers, our representatives and subcontractors to participate actively by mobilizing their staff to gather basic necessity items, and thus add even more "value" to our support.
Having already successfully implemented the initiative for the last two consecutive years, we deliver essential items to institutions, non-profit organizations and municipal social welfare structures in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion/Crete, our core areas of business activity, with significant results for the beneficiaries, our Company and society as a whole.
In 2014, we delivered essential items to 17 organizations that support children and their families, while in 2015 we collaborated with 18 organizations.
The organizations with which we collaborated are:
Attica: Network for Children's Rights, Pammakaristos Children’s Foundation, Hatzikonsta Foundation, Social Welfare Structures of the Municipality of Markopoulo, Mitera - Center for the Protection of the Child of Attica, Exemplar National Nursing Home, The Smile of the Child, Hatzikyriakeio Childcare Institution, KSDEO "Edra" (Social Cooperative Activities for Vulnerable Groups).
Thessaloniki: Agios Stylianos Municipal Nursery of Thessaloniki, Social Welfare Structures of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Melissa Orphanage for Girls, House of ARSIS.
Heraklion/Crete: Child Protection Center of Heraklion, Heraklion Shelter for Minors, Social Welfare Structures of the Municipality of Heraklion.
The organizations are selected and designated by QualityNet Foundation, the Network of Responsible Organizations and Active Citizens, which has included the initiative in the social responsibility program "It is everyone's responsibility" in regard to Society and acts as a Social Ombudsman. Through the mechanism that the foundation has developed for identifying the needs, we were able to determine and prioritize the needs of the above organizations in essential items which would support children or/and their families.
The needs were covered by TNT customers/associates and their staff, as well as by TNT employees, through voluntary donations. In 2014, the program involved 26 companies, while in 2015 it involved 23 companies and 1 Parent Association (School of Kalyvia).
Basic necessity items are gathered at TNT headquarters, and are then categorized on the basis of reported needs.
The essential items are:
To further enhance communication and maintain transparency of the initiative, and using the phrase "your hope parcel is most needed" as our key motto we created the website http://www.metaferoume-elpida.gr.
Furthermore,
The participating companies received a "verification document" and a corresponding badge from QualityNet Foundation, attesting to their participation in the program, which can be used in social stocktaking reports or for communication via Corporate Communication Channels.
An important result of the action is that it provides basic necessity items to vulnerable children and their families, and this is achieved through the mobilization and the effective contribution of the companies, highlighting the power of collaboration!
The contribution of TNT employees is equally valuable. Living in an era where many vulnerable groups in our society face dire economic conditions, it is important that the people of TNT prove they are part of The People Network!
The results can be summarized as follows:
2014
2015
The program was carried out in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion/Crete, in all areas that TNT operates in.
TNT collaborated with QualityNet Foundation, the Network of Responsible Organizations and Active Citizens, as well as with 18 social welfare organizations.
TNT team members are familiar with such voluntary action plans, as TNT globally participated in the United Nations World Food Programme during the last decade and also organized actions during the last five years, which were aimed at supporting socially vulnerable groups in the crisis-ridden Greece. Our team members were actively involved in the action "Deliver Hope" and participated voluntarily in the whole process of collection, classification, packaging and delivery of parcels of hope, an initiative that they embraced with great pride.
TNT realized an initiative with an important social welfare character, managing to connect its services to Society and to people’s daily and practical needs.
TNT implemented a program involving its entire network, including all team members, associates and customers, enhancing relationships with each group and demonstrating the importance of contributing to a common goal.
This way, TNT managed to create the necessary conditions for building relations with external stakeholders (Society, Local Authorities, NGOs, media, etc.), working constructively for the future.
