Ensuring the sustainable development of dairy farming and high-quality DELTA milk products with a positive ESG footprint
Dairy Farmers / Milk Producers
The program concerns a continuous action of DELTA.
At DELTA, we have been implementing the GAIA action plan since 2012, through which we invest in a sustainable future for dairy farming, enhancing the knowledge and skills of farmers regarding the sustainability of their farms.
In 2023, as part of the program, we developed an innovative milk supplier evaluation framework that combines criteria of milk quality and quantity with animal welfare, biosecurity, and carbon footprint, ensuring high-quality production and the adoption of sustainable practices by our partnering suppliers. The pilot implementation of the program began within the same year, with ambitious expansion plans for 2024.
In 2023, the pilot implementation of the new evaluation framework was carried out with selected producers, aiming to evaluate as many DELTA producers as possible in the coming years.
Since 2016, we have also been running the farm advisory program, providing individual consulting and guidance to producers to ensure animal health and the adoption of sustainable farming practices.
Implementation across all areas of operation within Greece.
The milk supplier evaluation framework is implemented in collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens.
