Description

Combating climate change is an urgent international priority. With existing climate neutrality goals set for 2050 at both European and Greek levels, companies are called to advance the green agenda at the core of their decisions.

For all of us at DELTA, good nutrition is based on a sustainable production model that continuously integrates environmentally friendly processes. For this reason, we took a step further for a "greener" future by submitting our own science-based targets to reduce greenhouse emissions to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in December 2023.

However, for any "green" transition to be successful, it must ensure that the operating costs of the company and, consequently, the production costs of its products do not increase excessively.

To achieve the best possible balance between production costs and "green" investments, we implemented a pioneering project for Greek standards.

Based on an innovative methodology from the Athens University of Economics and Business, we recorded our ESG performances along the supply chain, simultaneously quantifying our impact to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (U.N. SDGs). Additionally, we developed a digital tool that allows us to design ESG scenarios, helping us accurately identify areas where we can improve our performance, often comparing ourselves with industry leaders at the international level.

Impact on Society

2023 has been a reference year for us, as we set the baseline and completed the assessment of the existing situation:
- Documenting and recording our existing performances on selected ESG indicators, at the product and value chain level (depending on data availability).
- Quantifying our impact to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (U.N. SDGs).
- Creating a dynamic digital tool for continuous monitoring of DELTA's performance on each indicator and SDG target, and for implementing ESG scenario planning to identify areas for improvement.
- Developing a targeted roadmap for the most effective implementation of the company's ESG strategy.
