Description

elin's Corporate Responsibility program, "othisi", was announced by the company in March 2023 and constitutes a keystone of its strategy, as it has been implemented over the 70 years of its operation.

This year marks the first successful year of its operation and its multifaceted offer. The program's actions respond to key needs and provide a "boost" to well-being and progress, both through partnerships with organizations that carry out community service work, and through the company's standalone volunteer activities, which are held by the volunteer group of "othisi" it has created.

As an integrated energy group, elin, supports steadily the vulnerable communities and social groups facing difficult living conditions.

In this context, the company cooperates with the award-winning NGO "Emfasis Non-Profit", which stands by the side of citizens who are facing homelessness, unemployment, or social exclusion, by covering the costs of two Mobile Support Units (MSUs) in terms of tolls, parking, cleaning and fuel.

Some other solid partnerships include those with "Make A Wish - Make a Wish Greece" for the granting of wishes for children suffering from serious illnesses and with the street magazine "Schedia" for the support of its vendors and their social rehabilitation.

In addition, it contributes as a "Mobility Supporter" to the significant effort of Humanity Greece, covering the fixed expenses of its Volunteer Coordination Centre and the fuel needs of its volunteers' vehicles. This year, in the framework of a new, integrated preparation and readiness plan of the Humanity Greece volunteer team, elin is committed to support the Organization, with the aim of intervening immediately in the fields due to any natural disaster, such as fire, earthquake or flood.

Moreover, with an activity inextricably linked to the sea, for 70 years, elin has recognized the severe pollution problem of the marine ecosystem facing the local communities of our islands. Within the context of "othisi", it implements an innovative awareness and education program against marine pollution, in collaboration with Aegean Rebreath and the Blue Municipalities Network, aiming to empower the local communities of the country's islands providing them with the necessary tools to become themselves effective stewards and protectors of the marine environment. With the key message that "No source of pollution is insignificant", executives from the company and the organization are visiting Greek islands to train representatives of port funds and professional fishermen on issues related to the conservation and protection of the marine environment. In fact, elin also donates anti-pollution equipment to each island. During the first year of of the program's implementation, visits were carried out to 4 islands, Santorini, Alonissos, Lefkada, and Poros, where the local communities and the mayors of the islands "embraced" the action with great warmth.

Also, recognizing the wider importance of sport for health, well-being, and the promotion of positive role models to new generations, elin collaborates with Miltos Tendoglou, Olympic Gold Medalist in the long jump as well as with Stelios Malakopoulos, Paralympic track and field athlete and double-amputee World Champion. The company is actively supporting these two great athletes and their families, encouraging their participation in sporting events. At the same time, it supports the valuable work of the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC). In fact, in anticipation of this year's Olympic Games in Paris, it provided for the 4th consecutive year high quality fuel for the entire journey of the Olympic Torch Relay from Ancient Olympia to the Panathenaic Stadium.
