Objective Action

True to its commitment to international recycling and circular economy practices, LAMDA Development has entered into an agreement with the TITAN and Lafarge Beton Groups of the Heracles Group for the installation of state-of-the-art ready-mixed concrete plants within The Ellinikon project, which will operate in terms of circular economy. In particular, it ensures the maximum possible utilization of concrete recycling products, while the reuse of treated water for cleaning equipment and machinery is also foreseen. The initiative is another step towards the implementation of The Ellinikon urban regeneration project, aiming at the reduction of its carbon footprint, the circular economy and the well-being of the local community, making the project an international model in the construction sector.

Description

Already from the planning phase of The Ellinikon urban regeneration project, LAMDA Development has focused on "green" and sustainable practices for the entire scope of the project and for each type of action, in the framework of a Sustainable Development Strategy that has as its main pillars the reduction of the carbon footprint, the circular economy and the well-being of the people of the local community.

The Ellinikon has signed MoUs with the TITAN and Heracles Groups, which have already installed state-of-the-art ready-mixed concrete plants on site, promoting partnerships and synergies for "green" concrete of high standards with the aim of:

- Promoting sustainable concrete products with low carbon emissions and low use of natural resources in construction.

- Using available innovative materials, including high performance concrete and cyclical solutions in their production.

- Focusing on optimising the cement and aggregates supply chain.

TITAN and Heracles Groups are contributing to the implementation of The Ellinikon project in Greece, with the state-of-the-art ready-mix concrete plants located within the site. The two production plants aim to increase the use of recycled materials and to source aggregates from nearby quarries, reducing transport distances and minimising the environmental impacts associated with long-distance deliveries of materials. This emphasis on a local and sustainable supply chain reinforces the overall sustainable development objectives of the project.

The optimized cement and aggregates supply chain and the investment in the new facilities reflect the Groups' commitment to sustainable construction practices by providing Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certifications, while playing a key role in supporting Lamda Development in the implementation of one of its most iconic infrastructure projects.

Titan Group

TITAN Group provides on-site innovative low-carbon products, tailored solutions and expert advice on the use of innovative materials and circular solutions. A notable aspect of TITAN's contribution to the project's footprint is its commitment to a sustainable supply chain.

Equipped with advanced automation and cutting-edge technology, the newly established TITAN Group operation sets new standards for environmental responsibility and multi-materials management. The plant adheres to the principles of circular economy, minimizing the use of natural resources, maximizing the recycling of concrete and demolition materials, incorporating a fresh concrete recycling system and a mechanism for reusing treated water. These sustainable practices ensure the production of innovative concrete products required during the construction period of The Ellinikon projects.

Heracles Group

Lafarge's Ready-Mix concrete plant paves the way for sustainable urban regeneration. The green concrete plant guarantees the quality and compliance with environmental standards for the materials used in The Ellinikon, thus setting new standards for an environmentally responsible construction sector.

Impact on Society

LAMDA Development's agreement with the TITAN and Lafarge Beton Groups of HERACLES Group for the installation of state-of-the-art ready-mixed concrete plants within The Ellinikon ensures the reduction of the carbon footprint of the redevelopment works, reducing the carbon footprint and the environmental nuisance of the neighbouring municipalities, with the maximum possible use of recycled concrete products and demolition materials, as well as the reuse of treated water from the settling tanks of the plants.

The common philosophy of the parties on sustainable development highlights the central role of the circular economy for the Greek construction sector, as well as the importance of synergy and sharing of know-how in the implementation of a particularly challenging and ambitious project such as the implementation of the largest urban regeneration project in Europe.

Benefits for Οrganization

Our advanced ready-mix concrete plants are designed, built and operated with the lowest possible carbon footprint and low use of natural resources (25% energy reduction and 100% water reuse) per cubic metre of concrete production. In addition, the plants are equipped with the most advanced technological systems for recycling and reuse of concrete waste and operational wastewater management.

Through this initiative, the major redevelopment of Elliniko becomes an international standard in the construction sector, putting into practice LAMDA Development's commitment to environmental protection for the benefit of the local community, fully aligned with the European Union's climate neutrality targets.
