Diageo, through the #DiageoEuropeHelps program, supported the activities of Médecins Sans Frontières/MSF. Approximately for two months (December 2015 – January 2016), the company, committing to double the funds raised, collected funds from the aforementioned audience through an electronic piggy bank, meanwhile implementing three more activities, in order to further strengthen the organization’s efforts to support refugee needs.
Specifically, the company organized:
Fundraising through an electronic piggy bank. For the support of MSF, Diageo organized a fundraising activity. The funds were donated straight to MSF, with participants being able to make their deposit in the electronic piggy bank featured on the organization’s website, which was created exclusively for this reason. At the same time, participants could share the activity and the link for the electronic piggy bank to their social and professional circles, encouraging their peers to support the activity.
Christmas bazaar. In collaboration with MSF representatives, the company organized a Christmas Bazaar on December 21st , aiming to raise even more funds. Memorabilia from the organization as well as objects created by Diageo employees themselves were available at the Bazaar. Clients, suppliers and other company partners, as well as the families and friends of employees were invited to attend.
Auction. From December 17th to 21st, an auction was organized exclusively for employees, with artwork created by well-known artists, inspired by Diageo’s own products. The auction took place through the application the company maintains for internal communication with employees. Through the application, interested parties could find information and see the products and then bid on the one they wished to purchase. The employee with the highest bid could win the auction “battle” and buy the products, depositing the payment directly to MSF.
Activation of the Giving SMS (≅1€) service, which gave the opportunity to people to support the organization’s cause just by sending an sms.
Through the service “Giving”, employees, partners and clients could send SMS for 7 days and support the activity. For the use of this particular service in the month of December, it was ensured that no other organization would implement this particular service over the same period, while approval was requested from the Ministry of Health.
The aforementioned activities were implemented with the enthusiastic support of Diageo employees, its commercial partners as well as the company’s friends, while the electronic piggy bank was supported by Diageo employees from nearly all European countries, where the company operates.
The total sum raised from the activities, together with the significant contribution of the company reached €25,000.
Through this big activity, Diageo managed to reach over the Greek borders and local market, gathering attention from European markets.
