Objective Action

At DIMAND, we recognize the critical importance of urban regeneration and revitalizing entire neighborhoods. Urban regeneration is, for us, the path to rejuvenate a neighborhood, revive the community, and create a pleasant and imaginative environment for residents and visitors alike.

Urban regeneration, above all, is an act of love for the city and the people who inhabit it. We firmly believe that through this process, we can breathe new life into communities and create the city we want to live in.

Having undertaken one of the most demanding renovation projects in the area of Agios Dionysios in Piraeus, we have gained invaluable experience and expertise in the revitalization of urban areas.

Target Audience

Urban regeneration is aimed at the broader community of residents and visitors of a specific city or neighborhood.

Description

The Piraeus Port Plaza (PPP), located in the area of Agios Dionysios in Piraeus, was comprised of old and abandoned tobacco warehouses that were built in the 1930s. The abandonment of urban land, especially in industrial areas, is associated with low ecological value and has a negative impact on the wealth of fauna and flora.

Our responsibility was the redevelopment of Piraeus Port Plaza (PPP) and consequently, the regeneration of the surrounding area, with a high priority placed on creating open spaces. We paid special attention to the creation of open spaces, and approximately 28% of the project's area (5,000 sqm) was transformed into outdoor areas, landscaped with endemic and Mediterranean plants.

In this way, we have managed to create a true oasis within a highly urbanized area. The green spaces of the property serve as connecting points, creating a biodiversity corridor that links the area with other neighboring green spaces

Impact on Society

The redevelopment of Piraeus Port Plaza (PPP) represents a significant initiative that has brought about a remarkable revitalization in Piraeus. This extensive urban renewal project has radically transformed the image of the Agios Dionysios area, creating a green and sustainable space that offers multiple benefits for the local community and visitors alike.

The rejuvenation of the Agios Dionysios area through Piraeus Port Plaza is an exemplary demonstration of real change and renewal that goes beyond the boundaries of a mere building. This ambitious project has transformed an entire neighborhood, establishing a new and vibrant environment for its residents and city visitors.

The PPP project stands as a testament to the power of urban redevelopment to create thriving and attractive spaces that enhance the quality of life and well-being of all who inhabit or visit the area. It exemplifies the vision of a city that we aspire to live in, one that prioritizes environmental consciousness, community well-being, and a harmonious integration of modernity and tradition. The successful transformation of this once neglected industrial area into a green, dynamic, and welcoming space serves as an inspiring model for future urban revitalization efforts.
