BUSINESS: 531 PRACTICES
The goal of this initiative is to enhance sustainable development and improve the quality of life in the local communities where the company operates. Through the strategic use of our technologies, corporate resources, and the expertise of our people, we aim to support local communities in areas such as economic self-sufficiency, access to education, gender equality, women's empowerment, and the development of digital skills. At the heart of this initiative is the empowerment of local economies and providing access to banking services for all, through the use of digital technology. The ultimate objective is to improve quality of life and foster equality and economic growth.
This initiative is aimed at local communities where Temenos operates, with a particular focus on areas facing challenges such as economic inequality, lack of access to banking services, limited access to education, and underdeveloped digital skills. The target audience includes low-income individuals and families, women seeking empowerment and equality, and young people aiming to acquire digital skills to enhance their economic independence. Especially in India, where Temenos employs a substantial 65% of its global workforce, the company has recognized the urgent need to drive social change through technology.
Ongoing Commitment: Temenos' community-driven initiatives, such as the Adopt-iT Program, have been in place since 2017 and continue to expand.
2024 and Beyond: The company has set specific goals for 2024, including expanding the Adopt-iT School Program to more schools and universities, and increasing access to education and technology for underserved communities. These initiatives are designed for long-term impact and sustainability.
At Temenos, we are deeply committed to supporting communities around the world by leveraging our technology, resources, and expertise to drive positive social change. Through our strategic initiatives, we empower local communities to thrive by fostering economic self-sufficiency, improving access to education, and promoting equality. While our impact spans the globe, India holds a special place in our mission, as it is home to 65% of our global workforce and the center of many of our most transformative programs.
Our strategy goes beyond financial resources, utilizing our assets, expertise, and partnerships to address global challenges, support local communities, and foster sustainable development. We aim to align our community investment with our business mission and strategic priorities, ensuring shared value and long-term benefits for communities.
Temenos enhances the quality of life in communities where our employees, partners, and clients live and work through:
Temenos also participates in numerous local community activities throughout the year, celebrating international days such as World Environment Day and World Mental Health Day with local initiatives. From tree planting campaigns to Race for the Cure events supporting cancer awareness, our employees across global offices contribute directly to enhancing the quality of life in their local communities. These activities not only promote environmental stewardship but also foster strong community ties by addressing key social issues through meaningful volunteer work.
One of our most notable community-driven initiatives is the Adopt-iT Program in India. This program empowers underprivileged students by providing digital skills training, access to education, and job opportunities. From 2017 to 2023, we built 13 solar-powered computer labs and smart classrooms in schools across the country, supporting gender equality by providing essential facilities like girls' restrooms to keep young women in school. We also expanded partnerships with universities, establishing the Temenos Innovation Lab at Anna University, giving students real-world experience in financial technology. Additionally, in 2023, 196 need- and merit-based scholarships were awarded to students in fields such as IT, engineering, and computer science, with 60% allocated to young women to encourage careers in STEM fields.
Also, we collaborate with educational institutions to promote digital literacy and innovation through hackathons, research initiatives, and hands-on training. This approach not only helps students gain the skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy but also fosters long-term partnerships with schools and universities.
Our CSR efforts also extend to projects focused on environmental sustainability and inclusive mobility. In collaboration with the Government of Karnataka, Temenos donated ten retrofitted electric vehicles to individuals with physical disabilities in rural India, promoting eco-friendly and sustainable transportation.
In 2024, we plan to expand the Adopt-iT School Program to more schools and universities, increasing access to education and technology for underserved communities. Additionally, we will continue offering scholarships to students in India and create more opportunities for employee volunteering, focusing on poverty alleviation, financial inclusion, digital inclusion, and gender equality.
At Temenos, we remain deeply committed to leveraging our resources, technology, and partnerships to empower local communities and drive meaningful, sustainable change across the globe.
The results of Temenos' community initiatives are measurable and impactful. For instance:
Temenos’ CSR initiatives are implemented globally, with a strong focus on key regions, including India, where 65% of its global workforce is based. The company has made India a focal point for its educational, social, and environmental projects.
Temenos actively collaborates with a wide network of partners, including NGOs, educational institutions, and government organizations to amplify its impact across various sectors. A notable example is its Adopt-iT Program in India, where Temenos partners with schools, universities, and local authorities to promote digital literacy and provide access to education and job opportunities.
Temenos encourages active participation from its employees in community service and CSR activities. In 2023, Temenos employees contributed a total of 4,854 volunteer hours to various initiatives, including educational programs, environmental conservation projects, and social well-being activities. One key initiative is the Adopt-iT Program, where employees in India volunteer their time to provide digital skills training to underprivileged students. Temenos also organizes local activities such as tree planting campaigns and Race for the Cure events, which engage employees in meaningful causes. Employee participation is central to Temenos' approach, ensuring that the company’s impact goes beyond financial contributions.
Temenos' focus on CSR initiatives and community engagement brings significant benefits, both in enhancing its brand reputation and in employee engagement.
