Description

Our Sustainability Report covers all Temenos operations as well as all financially consolidated activities. The report is prepared in accordance with Art. 964b of the Swiss Code of Obligations, which became mandatory for Swiss companies of public interest from 2023, in alignment with recommendations and standards issued by the Integrated Reporting Framework, in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and mapped to the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Software and IT Services Sustainability Accounting Standard. A double materiality assessment (externally verified) in accordance with the requirements of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) has been performed to identify our material topics. Our Board of Directors acknowledges responsibilities and has approved and signed off the 2023 Temenos Sustainability Report according to the Swiss Code of Obligations. We also adhere to the requirements of Art. 964j-l of the Swiss Code of Obligations (Ordinance on Due Diligence and Transparency in relation to Minerals and Metals from Conflict-Affected Areas and Child Labour). We have determined that we are exempt from the obligations of due diligence and reporting obligations on minerals and metals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas and in relation to child labor.

 

This is our eighth Sustainability Report. No restatements were done. We have assured the content through an internal review process, including Board of Directors and executive oversight of reviews and validation. Apart from the internal review process, an independent third party, Grant Thornton S.A., has provided its assurance on Temenos’ Sustainability Report 2023. The scope of the assured information is indicated in the independent practitioner’s assurance report. Our first report with GRI was published in 2017.

 

We are very proud of Temenos ESG performance, and the recognition we have gained as the leader in ESG in the IT industry. We have now topped the Dow Jones Sustainability Index with the highest score in the software industry for the second year running. This is alongside similarly high rankings from S&P, FTSE4Good, MSCI, ISS, Sustainalytics, CDP, EcoVadis and the SXI Switzerland Sustainability Index. This recognition demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, and the positive impact we make by supporting our clients to achieve their ESG goals and transition to a low-carbon economy.

 

Temenos is a member in some of the most reputable organizations and associations globally such as the World Economic Forum and the Global Compact Network

Switzerland. The company is UN Global Compact (UNGC) participant, UN Women Empowerment Principles signatory, TCFD supporter and TNFD early adopter.

Impact on Society

In 2023, Temenos achieved the top score in the Software industry, out of 359 companies assessed, for the second year running in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and was the only company in the industry awarded top 1% distinction in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook. Temenos was also classified as low risk and ranked top 1% in Sustainalytics out of 443 companies assessed in Enterprise and Infrastructure Software sub-industry, while retained its platinum medal by EcoVadis for performing among top 1% out of over 85,000 companies assessed from all industries worldwide.

 

The SXI Switzerland Sustainability 25® Index included Temenos among the 25 Swiss stocks from the SMI® Expanded Index with the best sustainability scores.

 

Temenos remains a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series following the June 2023 index review. FTSE Russell confirms that Temenos has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

 

In 2023, Temenos AG participated for a 3rd consecutive year in the CDP rating receiving a rating of B and is amongst 27% of companies that reached Management level in its Management leveling its Activity Group: IT and software development. This rating is higher than the Global average and the IT & software development sector average of C. CDP is considered to be the world’s largest environmental disclosure platform collecting information on how companies, cities, regions, and nations measure and manage climate change, water security, and deforestation issues.

 

The company received an ISS QualityScore rating of “1” in all ISS ESG categories by ISS ESG Corporate Rating for its sustainability performance.

 

Temenos was included for the second year running in 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. The company achieved a perfect 100% disclosure score, compared to 96.31% average for the technology sector, while the Temenos overall GEI score was 80.24%, 7.9% higher than the Technology sector average.

 

The Environmental Management System (EMS) in our offices in India, Romania, United Kingdom, and Luxembourg received ISO 14001:2015 certification, with 73% coverage across Temenos globally.
