BUSINESS: 425 PRACTICES

At AstraZeneca, to respond effectively to a changing world and increased disease burden, we continuously invest in one of the most powerful and efficient production lines in the pharmaceutical industry. We work hard to deliver life-changing medicines and treatments to patients around the world.
We continue to push the boundaries of science to deliver innovative medicines and therapies that prevent, treat and cure some of the world's most important health challenges, including cancer, diabetes, heart, kidney and respiratory diseases. At AstraZeneca, innovation is a concept intertwined with growth. It is the driving force behind our vision to improve the lives of thousands of people by bringing them innovative treatments. At the same time, we ensure that these medicines reach the patients who need them, in a way that benefits society and our planet.
AstraZeneca’s key priority is to create a workplace where people can grow, thrive, and connect meaningfully with the company’s purpose.
As part of its sustainable development strategy, AstraZeneca designed the Sustainability & Well-Being Day 2025 initiative to transform the company’s ESG strategy into an experiential journey that strengthens employee participation, personal responsibility, and active engagement.
The initiative aimed to highlight that sustainability is not only a corporate objective or an environmental commitment, but also a daily mindset that starts with each employee. At the same time, it sought to strengthen employee engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and employees’ connection to AstraZeneca’s purpose: to improve the lives of people.

The initiative was addressed to all AstraZeneca Greece employees, regardless of role, function, or location.
The experience was designed to be inclusive and accessible, encouraging participation from employees across different teams and strengthening connections between colleagues in Athens and Thessaloniki.
A one-day initiative with lasting impact through follow-up actions and the Living Takeaway Concept.
Sustainability & Well-Being Day 2025 was a comprehensive internal communication and employee engagement initiative that brought together two strategic pillars for AstraZeneca: sustainability and employee well-being.
Built around the central message, “Sustainability Starts with Our People,” the initiative was designed to move the company’s ESG strategy from the level of awareness to the level of personal experience.
Employees took part in a series of experiential activities that connected nature, personal growth, and collaboration, including guided tours in botanical gardens, hiking in the Attica Forest, an Ikigai personal purpose workshop, sound healing sessions, indoor plant care training, and group planting activities in Athens and Thessaloniki.
A distinctive element of the initiative was the Living Takeaway Concept, through which each participant received a plant as an enduring symbol of their personal contribution to sustainability, bringing the message of the initiative into their daily life. At the same time, Experiential Kits were created for employees who could not attend in person, ensuring that the experience and message of the initiative reached the entire organization.
