The Structures Providing Basic Goods of Dafni-Ymittos aim to eliminate poverty and social exclusion at local level through a set of actions that provide psychosocial and material support to individuals coming from socially vulnerable groups.
Individuals and families residing in the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos who belong to socially vulnerable groups, specifically the homeless and those who are either living in poverty or at risk of falling into poverty
The initiative of the Providing Basic Goods Structures, aims to combat poverty through a comprehensive support framework for vulnerable social groups who are either living in poverty or at risk of falling into it. Its implementation is based on the collaboration between non-profit organizations and municipal authorities, through Social Partnership Schemes, ensuring both the effectiveness and sustainability of the actions.
A distinctive feature of the initiative is the combined support from civil society, with the active participation of private enterprises and public institutions, including sponsorships and donations. The Structures Providing Basic Goods in the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos which include the Social Grocery, the Soup Kitchen, and the Social Pharmacy — play a crucial role in supporting citizens, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting the active engagement of the local population.
The Structures Providing Basic Goods in Dafni-Ymittos serve on average 450 direct beneficiaries on a monthly basis.
Specifically:
120 individuals receive support through the Soup Kitchen
135 individuals are served by the Social Grocery
180 individuals benefit from the Social Pharmacy
The Structures Providing Basic Goods are located in the area of Dafni in Attica.
For the implementation of the Structures Providing Basic Goods, the organization K.S.D.E.O. "EDRA", as the beneficiary body of the program, collaborates in the form of a partnership scheme with the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos, which acts as the cooperating partner. Furthermore, for the implementation of the Soup Kitchen, cooperation is established with the Holy Church of Saint Barbara in Dafni.
For the implementation of the Structures Providing Basic Goods, a dedicated team of eight permanent staff members is employed, including Social Workers, a Pharmacist, Administrative Personnel, a Cook, an Assistant Cook, and Cleaning Staff. In addition, to ensure the optimal effectiveness of the services provided, the volunteer network of K.S.D.E.O. "EDRA", as well as local volunteer organizations, offer regular support at scheduled intervals.
