Objective Action

At PPC, sustainable development is our strategic commitment, which aligns perfectly with the company's business model and transformation needs, creating a roadmap for transformation into a 'Creating Shared Value' (CSV) model, which places the recognition of the needs of stakeholders and society at large at the center of its efforts, creating shared value among the Company, Society, and the Environment.

With the aim of bringing about positive changes in the broader ecosystem, PPC supports actions based on creative ideas and aiming for the common good. Through our corporate responsibility program "PPC ACT", our goal is to empower vulnerable social groups and contribute to the protection of the natural environment. We support the work of non-profit organizations that share the same vision as us for a better, sustainable future and participate in educational, sports, and cultural activities for all.

By investing in the new generation, PP has launched the educational program 'Learning How to Save Energy,' which targets kindergarten and elementary school students.

The aim of this program is to inform and sensitize our young friends about sustainable energy and environmental protection. Specifically, the program achieves:

  • Information about the impacts of indiscriminate energy use on the environment
  • Sensitization of students on the issue of energy conservation
  • Information about energy-saving methods."

The program startd in April 2019 and continuous till today


Description

The educational program 'Learning How to Save Energy' has a duration of one teaching hour and is adapted to the age and cognitive level of students from 1st to 6th grade of primary school, as well as in kindergartens. It includes:

  • Screening of a short animated film prepared by the Sustainable Energy Initiatives Initiative of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission
  • Discussion and comprehension exercises based on the film

Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate of attendance and a commemorative tabletop game related to energy saving.

Additionally, posters with energy-saving tips are provided to schools to be displayed and remind everyone of the importance of energy conservation."

Impact on Society

Up to today, approximately 27,000 students have been trained in person, in 160 kindergartens and primary schools. Specifically:

  • 20,657 students in the Attica Region
  • 2,433 students online in the Cyclades Region
  • 3,808 students in person in the Piraeus Region"

Working with Organization

Our collaboration for this program is with the Ministry of Education, the Institute of Educational Policy, as well as with the University of Western Attica, from which we source our trainers. These trainers are trained graduates, postgraduates, and final-year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering
