Objective Action

The initiative aims to establish an integrated approach to sustainable resource management through the incorporation of green infrastructure into the operational function of the facility.

Through the development of a vertical garden at the Aspropyrgos facility, Antipollution seeks to transform existing operational flows into reusable resources, enhancing environmental efficiency, reducing the consumption of natural resources, and contributing to the development of a resilient and circular operational model.

At the same time, the initiative serves as a reference point for the practical application of sustainability principles in an industrial environment, demonstrating the effective integration of environmental solutions into daily operations.

 

Target Audience

The initiative is addressed to a broad range of stakeholders, including institutional and regulatory bodies, industrial and maritime clients, strategic partners, and local communities.

Through its implementation, the initiative strengthens stakeholders’ trust in the company’s ability to effectively incorporate sustainability, transparency, and environmental responsibility into its operations, contributing to a more mature framework within the environmental management sector.

The initiative is being developed throughout 2026, from the design phase to implementation, with a long-term operation and evolution perspective.


Description

Antipollution designed and developed a vertical garden at its Aspropyrgos facility, transforming part of the existing infrastructure into an active environmental management system.

The intervention is based on the utilization of available space within the facility and its conversion into a functional green infrastructure, organically integrated into daily operational activities. The system operates as a natural filtration mechanism, enabling the treatment and reuse of water streams, such as rainwater and equipment wash water.

Through the passage of water through plant and substrate layers, its quality is gradually improved, allowing its reintegration into operational uses within the facility. In this way, the project transforms passive infrastructure into an active resource management mechanism, enhancing efficiency and reducing dependence on primary water resources.

The selection of plant species and substrate is based on resilience and adaptability to local conditions, ensuring the sustainability and long-term functionality of the system. In parallel, the project’s design allows for gradual expansion and adaptation, reinforcing the evolving nature of the initiative.

The initiative goes beyond a standalone environmental intervention and is integrated into a broader framework of operational upgrading, where sustainability becomes an intrinsic component of business strategy.

Impact on Society

The implementation of the initiative significantly improves the environmental performance of the facility by reducing the consumption of clean water resources and enhancing water reuse.

At the same time, it improves the quality of the local environment and the facility’s microclimate, while reducing environmental impacts associated with water management.
