Objective Action

CHITOS ABEE was the first in its sector to present, in October 2020, ZAGORI Natural Mineral Water, in new bottles made of 30% recycled plastic (r-PET), remaining 100% recyclable. The new sustainable packaging is called ZAGORI GO GREEN and reflects in practice the company's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. The company's initiative to implement the European Legislation five years earlier than the requested 25% r-PET by 2025 aims to emphasize everyone's responsibility to defend a sustainable planet. CHITOS SA, with faith in the principles of sustainability and the circular economy, continuously invests in initiatives and actions that respond to essential needs of society and declare its strong commitment to the circular economy and sustainable development.

 

Target Audience

The target audience for ZAGORI products in GO GREEN packaging is all consumers of ZAGORI bottled natural mineral water, who choose products and services based on responsibility and respect for the environment and life. They are aimed at the modern consumer who chooses products and companies that respect the environment and promote the circular economy. The ZAGORI GO GREEN bottles with a percentage of recycled material (r-PET) have completely replaced the PET bottles of the corresponding ZAGORI Natural Mineral Water codes, as the consumer response was completely positive.

Description

CHITOS SA invests from the first moment of its operation in the Green Economy in all its activities, while at the same time it applies high quality environmental standards, maintaining and improving its practices, which are certified with the Environmental Management System based on the ISO 14001 standard: 2015, by TUV HELLAS (TUV NORD).

Believing in the principles of sustainability and the circular economy, it consistently invests in the development of products in reusable packaging, giving the consumer the choice of products that reduce their environmental footprint. The codes of the sustainable series "ZAGORI GO GREEN" in bottles made of 30% recycled plastic (r-PET) are ZAGORI mini 330ml, ZAGORI ATHLETIC 750ml and ZAGORI 750ml, as well as all the ZAGORI carbonated natural mineral water products Sparkling. Also, the packaging material – shrink film – of the packs also contains 30% recycled plastic, while all materials remain 100% recyclable. In this way, CHITOS SA leads the way, launching ZAGORI GO GREEN Sparkling, the first Greek carbonated natural mineral water in recycled plastic packaging. This strategic move follows the company's commitment to a continuous reduction of plastic in all its packaging.

As part of its initiative for its own Green Case Study, CHITOS ABEE was thoroughly checked for the Environmental Management System of the production process of r-PET packaging materials and was certified first in its sector by the leading Inspection - Certification Body in Greece TÜV HELLAS ( TÜV NORD).

CHITOS SA, with a sense of responsibility, started with the ZAGORI GO GREEN product line, in recycled plastic packaging, and is committed to the continuous reduction of plastic in all of its products. This is one of the main and immediate goals of the company, which continues to evolve with quality, innovation and environmental responsibility in mind.

In addition, the health, safety and trust of consumers is a constant priority of the company, which is committed to continue offering ZAGORI Natural Mineral Water, pure and untouched, as it travels below the surface of the earth, in its natural aquifers Pindus.

The consumer public "embraced" the GO GREEN initiative of CHITOS SA. Through the expanded TV campaign, native article writing and Social Media communication, it was informed about the importance of using recycled (r-PET) material and its value for sustainable development. The targeted communication that continues to develop at intervals has managed to act as a constant reminder to consumers that they don't need rules to make the right move, as long as their awareness leads them to adopt sustainable and good circular economy practices.
