We Care and Vaccinate!!!" Creation of a video spot on the vaccination against COVID 19

CIVIL SOCIETY: 282 PRACTICES
The Municipality of Hersonissos is a municipality in the region of Crete that was established with the Kallikratis Program. It arose from the amalgamation of the pre-existing municipalities of Goube, Hersonissos, Episkopi and Malia. The area of the new Municipality is 271.58 sq.km and its population is 26,717 inhabitants, according to the Census of 2011. The seat of the new municipality was designated Gournes.
With the Cleisthenes I program, the local and municipal Communities were renamed again to Communities on September 1, 2019, having again the name they had before the Kapodistrias program (1998).
The aim of our initiative was to contribute to the global, national and local campaign to encourage the population to be vaccinated against the COVID19 pandemic.
TO THE GENERAL POPULATION
Indefinitely.
We have created a video spot of unique value as in it, the Painter of Crete Roussetos Panagiotakis himself talks about his faith in vaccination and points out the effects of the pandemic that increase as long as the vaccination of the population is not accelerated.
Through the touching human approach on his part, as a man of the third age and art being a visual painter, he sends the message of hope with his word and work.
In the video spot, the visual artist presents a unique and priceless painting of his entitled "Death to Death" or "Vaccine, the Achilles heel of the coronavirus". This work is a global original if we take into account that while art throughout time has captured all the pandemics that have affected and tyrannized humanity, for the first time in a visual work not only the pandemic is presented but also the scientific means of dealing with it, which is the vaccine. If we look across time at all the paintings in which great artists have depicted pandemics, the raw tragedy, death and despair is presented.
In the visual work of Roussetos Panagiotakis, death / the pandemic / the coronavirus do not appear invulnerable. The vulnerable point is the possibility of vaccination which the painter aptly presents as "Achilles' heel".
It is shockingly hopeful that in this pandemic science has managed to produce a vaccine to deal with it in a very short time.
In the harsh reality of the effects of the pandemic, humanity was enlightened by the new discovery of science, the vaccine.
The impact of the initiative had a very positive effect on the local community where it was targeted.
This was not a commercial aimed at raising awareness.
Through the video spot, the familiar and beloved Roussetos Panagiotakis courageously addressed the general population who spoke about his personal faith in science and vaccination and moved.
The Press Release for the initiative as well as the video spot were reproduced in the electronic press and in print (without the video) all over Greece.
The video spot was filmed in the workshop of the Visual Artist, in Kera which is located on the border of the Municipality of Hersonissos bordering the Lasithi Plateau. In Crete
It is aimed at the whole world as it is available on youtube.
For our initiative, we collaborated with the Region of Crete, which supported it morally and financially. In particular, with the Regional Governor of Crete, the Deputy Regional Governor in matters of Public Health and Social Welfare and with the competent Directorate of Public Health and Social Welfare.
Not this time!
We consider it a significant benefit to the organization that we have been given the opportunity to take an active position and project it at a time when the pandemic is really killing people and having tragic effects on all fields of life now and in the future globally. We also consider it very important that with this opportunity we were able to support the work of science against obscurantist perceptions.
Faith in Science saves, we consider every attack on science that moves things forward to be unfair.
When, on a friendly level, the visual artist presented us with his new painting work, at the same time we proposed to him to collaborate and create the video spot.
It was a great opportunity for art to support Science with its power.
