Th. C. SKAGIAS S.A., as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment, established a Blood Bank. The Blood Bank operates with the voluntary effort of the employees of the above company which started in 1997 and continues to this day.
The aim is to provide support to employees when needed and to strengthen the culture of volunteering and contribution to society as a whole.
This ensures the adequacy and availability of blood units for employees and their family members and consequently in the country's Health System.
Voluntary blood donation is addressed to employees, families of employees when there is an immediate need through hospitals to all citizens of the country.
Voluntary blood donation takes place at the facilities of TH. SKAGIAS SA on a six-month basis.
First and second degree relatives, ensure the right to donate blood units, through the Blood Bank.
The important thing is that the other units are provided to the Health System of Greece, through the Evangelismos Hospital.
Voluntary blood donation is now a regular practice, so every six months the mobile Blood Donation Unit visits the premises of THK SKAGIAS SA (January & July) where voluntary blood donation is carried out at the company's premises by the experienced staff of Blood Donation. Volunteer blood donors are examined every six months and are responsible for maintaining their health in good condition and for exercising. Aiming to consolidate this action, employees who become Volunteer Blood Donors are provided with one additional day off per year.
The strengthening of the country's blood reserves, which is achieved through employee donations, has a huge social impact, as our country has the lowest rates of voluntary blood donors compared to other developed countries and at the same time has a high need for blood on an annual basis.
Specifically for:
2021: Existing Units 145,Blood Donation Units 41,Used Blood Units 26 and the Blood balance 160
2020: Existing Units 165,Blood Donation Units 24,Used Blood Units 44 and the Blood balance 145
