The aim of bwin's important initiative is to make sports accessible to all children and young people, thus promoting noble competition, sport and a healthy lifestyle, as well as the equal participation of all in the game and the sporting ideal .
Societies of urban and rural areas whose sports facilities are not safe and accessible to all, students throughout Greece, parents who want to see their children close to sports and the ideals it represents.
The "Stadiums 'return' to Society" program started in 2020 and continues today
bwin, once again, proves that its commitment, to grow and make the "sports movement" massive, is being implemented every day. The international betting brand, with a tradition of corporate social responsibility actions, knows well how to combine its social face with sports and the essential offer.
"Every journey and inspiration, every station and a new stadium"! With this "motto" bwin consistently moves towards this action, always being next to everyone who needs its help.
In this context, bwin, in 2020, "embraced" the rural area of Didymoteicho and in 2021, the island of Samothrace, with a common message: All children and young people have access to sports facilities and participate equally in sports ideal. At the same time, bwin's big goal is to "return" these stadiums to the communities, modern, safe, beautiful and functional. Fields ready to be filled with children's voices, balls, adrenaline and unforgettable moments, which forge children's character and shape the sports consciousness.
Since 2020, bwin and the Union "Together for the Child", have reconstructed a total of five pitches, with a total area of more than 1,800 m2, in Didymoteicho and Samothraki, as part of the Union's program "Equal opportunities for children and the young people of critical areas". Stadiums came to life, neighborhoods regained "pulse" and gave young people a chance to compete safely and dream.
In Didymoteicho, 2 pitches were reconstructed, in the 3rd Primary School and in Samothraki, 2 pitches, in Kamariotissa Primary School and a pitch in the Samothraki Gymnasium-Lyceum
The works were carried out during the summer period, when schools are closed, and delivered in time, before the start of each school year. All pitches were covered with special safety carpeting, which is used in professional facilities, markings were created and the necessary sports equipment was installed, so that the pitches became usable and beautiful again.
It is worth noting that the stadiums in Samothraki, in 2021, were inaugurated a year after the request of the local community to the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which was made known through the government. The immediate and selfless response from bwin, in collaboration with the Union, was decisive, while it received an emotional reception from the local community.
Finally, the international betting brand is well aware of the "secret of success" and continues the journey in 2022 with stations in Attica, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Patras, as well as in the remote Rhodope. In collaboration with the Association "Together for the Child", as well as the Local Government, it is planning the reconstruction of pitches with a total area of more than 8,000 m2, during the year, proving that bwin's commitment to a better everyday life is being implemented!
410 students attending the three school units in Didymoteicho and Samothraki benefited directly and indirectly all the children and young people of the two critical areas, who can enjoy the specific sports facilities.
Didymoteicho
The President of the Union "Together for the Child", Alexandra Martinou, said: "Children's happy voices again this year at Didymoteicho. For these children who live here, in the most remote corner of Greece, we came again, to see them this time playing sports in renewed beautiful spaces. With the valuable support of bwin, we rebuilt and offer high-level sports facilities to the children of Didymoteichos. The goal of the Union "Together for the Child" is to create equal opportunities for children and young people in every corner of our country and especially in critical areas and we are happy that bwin is our fellow traveler in this vision.
In his turn, the Director of the 3rd Primary School of Didymoteicho, Stavros Papamichael, said: "We are happy to welcome the Union Together for the Children to our school, as well as representatives of bwin, which is a supporter of the construction of the Basketball and Volleyball courts. So on this day, we inaugurate together these courts, which since last July have adorned the yard of our School. These are two courts of approximately 800 sq.m., which meet the latest and most modern specifications applied to outdoor sports venues. Our joy is great, because it is a very important project for our School, as well as for our entire critical city. In these fields, the children of our School, but also of the entire region, now have the opportunity to play sports and play safely. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the realization of this important project."
Samothrace:
The Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Zetta Makri, thanked the Association "Together for the Child" and bwin, who responded to the need of the local community to upgrade the sports infrastructure of the schools. A need that was met through collaborations and coordinated actions, just one year after the Prime Minister's visit to Samothraki, last October and his commitment to new sports infrastructures, which will host the students' daily sports activities, their introduction to sports, strengthening their love for exercise. A common priority that highlighted the value of the project and the valuable contribution of all those who make a difference, through the reconstruction of the three fields and the provision of sports equipment to four school units and two creative employment centers. This offer is a guide for the next steps, for the benefit and well-being of the children and their families.
In turn, the Mayor of the island, Nikolaos Galatoumos, thanked the Association "Together for the Child" and bwin, who played a decisive role in realizing these projects, while the Regional Director of Education of North Macedonia - Thrace, Konstantinos Bandikos, emphasized that the contribution of private companies and partnerships such as the "Together for the Child" Union and bwin is very important in upgrading the infrastructure and gives the school units the opportunity to do their work better.
The President of the "Together for the Child" Union, Alexandra Martinou, said: "Today, here in rural Samothrace, we give importance to children. With bwin as an ally, we are upgrading sports venues, making them friendlier and safer. We are laying the foundations for equal opportunities for children and young people in every corner of our country, especially in critical areas, and we are happy that bwin is our fellow traveler in this vision."
