Today, Glyfada is crossed by Vouliagmenis Avenue which divides (or even unites) it into Upper and Lower Glyfada. Kato is bustling, has the shopping center, has entertainment venues, is comparable to a modern city. A city with good transport and a nice beach, with four marinas, with golf, with a football field, with swimming pools with tennis and basketball courts.

A city that throbs with life and movement, a city that hosts "all the tribes of Israel". And Ano Glyfada, which is quieter, with neighborhoods but also with detached houses, away from the heavy traffic, near Ymittos. The ¨Riviera of the East¨ as Mr. Thomas Drikos calls it, in his album "Glyfada" was founded in the Saronic waters which were then crystal clear.



Objective Action

Better workflow leading to a more functional city. This is achieved through the Online service of citizens, citizens and entrepreneurs, easily and quickly, which results in saving time and reducing the cost of the services provided.

 

Target Audience

The new digital service of the Municipality of Glyfada is addressed to: a) citizens who are interested in issuing certificates (of birth, marital status, etc.) as well as Real Estate Tax certificates, b) to health shops that request the issuance of receipts and supporting documents necessary for their operation and c) to citizens dealing with issues of emergency calls, the collection of abandoned vehicles, as well as the collection of green waste (branches, dry leaves) as well as old mattresses.

 

Duration

The provision of digital certificates by the Municipality of Glyfada dates back to last May. It is an innovative 5-month action, which continues and improves steadily and spectacularly.


Description

Enriching the digital structure of the Municipality of Glyfada and the services it offers to the citizens, we integrated into the single platform of the smart city of our Municipality, a subsystem for submitting requests and processing cases belonging to a wide range of issues, which concern the interaction of citizens and businesses with the services of the Municipality of Glyfada. In this context, the intelligent Glyfada entered a new era. In fact, the Mayor of Glyfada, Giorgos Papanikolaou, at the start of his new term, in September 2019, recommended a new Deputy Mayor of Electronic Government, in order to give greater impetus to the field of digital modernization.

Today, citizens, instead of waiting in line at the counter, enter the site from the sofa of their home and are served easily and quickly. It is this year's new step in an already successful model of digital governance introduced by the Municipality of Glyfada to upgrade its operation and serve the citizens. The most characteristic example is the modern system of electronic receipt and management of citizens' requests, Fix My City, with the simultaneous creation of the telephone support line, the five-digit number 15464, which "gives a voice" to the citizens. With an impressive number of 35,100 uses and with more than 20 categories, the "Glyfada - Fix My City" application is available for free to everyone, both via "smart" mobile phone and tablet, as well as via computer (glyphada.fixmycity.today). With this easy-to-use application, any citizen and/or resident of the city can easily and quickly report a damage related to matters of the Municipality's competence, such as, for example, burnt lights, potholes, broken sidewalks, abandoned vehicles or request a special bin for collection green waste from gardens or old mattresses which are promoted for recycling. Thus, the services of the Municipality are immediately informed of the relevant problem, know where it has occurred and initiate the necessary procedures for its timely resolution. The citizen, in fact, can monitor the progress of damage restoration in real time.

Impact on Society

Within five months of operation of the new digital certificate provision system, around 600 requests were submitted and satisfied, with an average response time of three hours. In other words, the applicants are served immediately, which has the effect of reducing the number of visitors with a physical presence at the Town Hall. Citizens save time and money. At the same time, the collection and submission of supporting documents is facilitated and errors are reduced through the online platform that operates in the Municipality of Glyfada.
