Objective Action

Thrakis Mills I. Ouzounopoulos S.A., committed to the principles of transparency and responsible operation, issued in 2024 its first Sustainability Report, in accordance with international GRI standards and the criteria of the Greek Sustainability Code.
Our goal was to enhance transparency and self-commitment through the recording, monitoring, and disclosure of the company’s performance with regard to the three pillars of sustainability—environment, society, and governance—based on fundamental and recognized reporting standards, while also highlighting our future objectives.
Although there was no legal obligation, we consciously chose to proceed with this process, as we believe that ESG reporting and Sustainability Reports are essential tools that strengthen transparency, accountability, and responsible corporate governance. Indeed, Thrakis I. Ouzounopoulos S.A. is the only flour milling company in Greece that publishes a Sustainability Report without being required by regulation, a fact that demonstrates that transparency and responsible growth are a strategic choice for us and not a matter of formal compliance.

Target Audience

All of the company’s stakeholders—employees, shareholders, customers, partners, suppliers, the local community, institutional bodies, and society at large—with the aim of providing valid and transparent information about our performance and future sustainability goals.

Duration

The ESG reporting process began in late 2022 and was completed in 2024 with the publication of the company’s first Sustainability Report, which covers the years 2022–2023.

Description

Our company, with more than 100 years of presence in Greek society and economy, remains consistently committed to producing high-quality flour, responding with reliability and respect to the needs of our customers and community. A constant priority is supporting the local community through large-scale, organized initiatives, such as the award-winning contract farming program with producers in Thrace.
In 2022, proud of our work, we undertook for the first time the process of ESG reporting, aiming to share with all stakeholders the actions and goals included in our Sustainability Strategy.
Our first Sustainability Report presents the initiatives we implemented during 2022–2023 in support of society, the care and training of our employees, and the protection of the natural environment. At the same time, it presents the material topics that emerged from our materiality analysis, which was based on dialogue and communication with the company’s stakeholders.
The Report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines and the 20 criteria of the Greek Sustainability Code, while also taking into account the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Report outlines our contribution to each of the 17 SDGs through our material topics.
We chose the GRI standards because they constitute the most widely recognized international sustainability reporting framework. Their application ensures transparency, comparability, and reliability of our data, reinforcing the trust of all stakeholders.
