Recognizing that under the current economic and social situation many of our fellow citizens are suffering, Roche Hellas decided to contribute, to the extent possible, to their relief. The rise of unemployment combined with the fact that the country's health budget was slashed, resulted in the rapid increase of the number of uninsured patients in Greece, patients that are now ineligible for health coverage. Roche Hellas designed the Patient Support Program through which the company will donate medicines to uninsured citizens.
Uninsured patients that do not have access to their treatment, provided that the appropriate request submission procedure is followed according to the circular of the National Organization for Medicines (#57 386 / 17.07.2013).
2014 - 2015
Through the Program, it is expected that until 2015 a total number of 11,500 drugs will be donated across the country, either via public hospitals applying for the donation for the uninsured patients listed in their records, or via "Drug Bank" an initiative created by the collaboration of the Hellenic Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEE) and the Athens Medical Association (ISA) to support the needs of uninsured patients listed in the registries of ISA. The Program provides all medicinal products marketed by Roche Hellas in the Greek market, covering in this way a wide range of therapeutic categories, such as: oncology and hematology malignancies (breast cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, metastatic melanoma, pancreatic cancer, lymphomas, leukemias), inflammatory diseases (rheumatoid arthritis), virology (hepatitis e.tc.), transplantation, cardiology etc.
• Target to deliver approximately 11,500 products throughout Greece.
• Implementation of five mass deliveries to the Bank of Medicines.
• Implementation of deliveries to eleven state hospitals.
• Total number of products delivered thus far: 6.981 drugs donated.
