Globally, AstraZeneca has accelerated development in the field of diagnostic testing and partnered with governments to conduct existing screening programs to enhance population testing. The company's Research and Development teams are working to identify monoclonal antibodies and evaluate them in clinical trials as a treatment for the prevention of the disease COVID-19.
AstraZeneca, in collaboration with the University of Oxford, proceeded to develop the successful vaccine AZD1222 against the disease COVID-19 in just 9 months, with the aim of making it available on a large scale in Europe and worldwide. The company's commitment is equal and wide access to the vaccine, without profit during the pandemic.

AstraZeneca responded to the need for continuous information for frontline medical staff by organizing live webcasts of global scope, in which leading experts and representatives of the global scientific community shared and discussed the latest scientific knowledge about the disease COVID-19.
Globally, the company proceeded to donate 9 million medical masks to support healthcare workers, while in Greece the company participated in the collective national effort of the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies of Greece to deal with the rapid spread of the COVID-19 disease and increased hospital needs, offering the Ministry of Health 4,000 FFP2 medical masks, 10 ICU vital signs monitors and 43,000 PCR tests.

Putting TOGETHER into action: Mental Health & Empowerment
Especially for the unprecedented period of lockdown, emphasis was placed on communication between people at AstraZeneca with the aim of enlivening, maintaining team spirit, mutual support and strengthening theTOGETHER, with regular online meetings of the whole company. On the company's intranet - workplace, employees shared with their colleagues photos from their daily lives and exchanged messages, while "Challenge" actions were carried out with the aim of participation and strengthening employee morale.
At the same time, a support framework was created by a specialist psychologist with survival tips during the pandemic for young and old, with an emphasis on stress and anxiety management, as well as strengthening the immune system, while employees are provided with the possibility of an individual online meeting with a specialist psychologist. In this direction, AstraZeneca, proceeded in collaboration with Hellas EAP, with the operation of a 24/7/365 telephone support line with the aim of providing psychological support to employees and their family members, as well as with the continuous distribution of informative material, both in matters related to Covid-19, as well as in general matters of mental health, prevention & management of important diseases and wider health and well-being.
