New FairLife L.C.C. Website: A Digital Hub for Life, Information, and Awareness About Lung Cancer

New FairLife L.C.C. Website: A Digital Hub for Life, Information, and Awareness About Lung Cancer
SUBMITTED FROM:

FAIRLIFE LUNG CANCER CARE

Objective Action

In today's healthcare landscape, digital access to reliable scientific information is a fundamental pillar of disease prevention and patient support.

FairLife Lung Cancer Care and Prevention (FairLife L.C.C.), the first and only non-profit social organization in Greece dedicated exclusively to lung cancer, carries out work of national significance.

Our strategic vision was to create a digital ecosystem that would go beyond serving as a corporate website, evolving instead into a dynamic, human-centered hub for information, community mobilization, and technological innovation.

Target Audience

Lung cancer patients, caregivers, and the general public looking for trustworthy information regarding prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and support

Duration

Since its launch in 2025, the new website has been continuously evolving, with ongoing enhancements to its content and functionality, including the integration of the AI Assistant in 2026.

Description

The website redesign was fully aligned with the new visual identity and design direction established through FairLife L.C.C.’s recent logo redesign, ensuring brand consistency across all digital channels, including using the new typography and color palette. Within this framework, the “waves” were organically integrated into the content structure. These waves carry a profound symbolism: the movement and continuous flow of water and nature, the clear and unrestricted human breath, as well as the ongoing and dynamic diffusion of hope and reliable knowledge throughout the community.

Prior to our intervention, the organization was facing a significant digital challenge. The previous website contained a vast and valuable volume of specialized content, including medical guides, scientific information, psychosocial support programs, and powerful patient testimonials. However, this wealth of information remained “buried” within a chaotic and difficult-to-navigate menu structure, with complex user flows that discouraged engagement and exploration.

The impact of this architectural deficiency was twofold. On the one hand, users (patients, caregivers, and the general public), who often visited the website while experiencing significant emotional distress, were unable to find quickly and easy the answers and support they were seeking. On the other hand, search engine algorithms were unable to properly index the content, resulting in the digital undervaluation of FairLife L.C.C.’s brand authority,  recorded a disappointing average ranking position (Average Position 27.94) and an extremely low Branded CTR of 10.26%.

With the support of Catalytica, we approached the project with a radical reorganization philosophy.

A custom, flexible architecture was developed within the WordPress environment, with a strong focus on simplifying the user experience and mapping search intent based on the patient journey.

To achieve this goal, specialized design and technical adaptations were implemented:

Clean Design & Age-Oriented Approach: Since the website receives a significant number of older visitors (patients belonging to vulnerable groups, as well as their older caregivers), a clean design approach was adopted, eliminating unnecessary digital clutter. Strong color contrasts and a highly readable typeface were introduced to ensure comfortable and effortless navigation. Every page and screen was optimized to provide excellent readability and performance in a mobile environment, which represents the primary access channel for the most users, minimizing drop-off rates.

• Accessibility Widget: An accessibility tool was integrated, enabling users, particularly those with visual difficulties, to customize the website environment according to their needs, making the available information fully inclusive and accessible to all.

• 5-Pillar Structure & Interlinking: The entire volume of information was organized into five clear thematic sections. Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatments, Management, and Support, following the patient journey. At the same time, an extensive interlinking strategy was implemented between the pages, guiding users seamlessly toward relevant content throughout the patient journey, without becoming lost.

• Data Collection Touchpoints: Multiple strategically positioned touchpoints were incorporated across the website (contact forms, interest forms, interactive tools, etc.), enabling the organization to securely collect data and leverage insights for more effective community support.

The greatest value of the new structure, however, goes beyond traditional metrics. The improved content organization and alignment with search needs not only simplified the user experience but also established a well-structured, “clean” Knowledge Base.

This structured information became the foundation and the exclusive data source for FairLife L.C.C.’s pioneering AI Assistant, which was launched a few days ago in collaboration with the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). The AI-powered digital assistant performs semantic retrieval and responds to users’ questions with complete safety and scientific accuracy, precisely because the website was properly organized and unlocked the wealth of information that had previously remained buried.

The FairLife L.C.C. website has thus evolved into a model Digital Health ecosystem, continuously evolving, and ready for the future.

Impact on Society

The radical transformation of the website and its success are demonstrated by the strong engagement levels achieved during the first six months (H1) of operation.

In total, the website attracted 58,432 unique active users and recorded 82,150 sessions, generating more than 154,210 pageviews. In parallel, organic visibility increased by 6.65%, reaching 247,243 impressions, while individual pages continue to demonstrate an improving trend in Avg. Position.

The effectiveness of the new structure and interlinking strategy is clearly demonstrated through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) behavioral data. While the Homepage serves as the primary entry point and navigation hub, with an average engagement time of 25 seconds, users who access the informational sections exhibit a remarkable level of engagement and content interaction.

For example:

Types & Stages: The page recorded 14,367 views from 9,956 unique users, with the average engagement time reaching 2.1 minutes (129.9s), representing an almost fivefold improvement compared to the Homepage baseline.

Living with Lung Cancer: The page generated 4,536 views, with an average engagement time of 2.8 minutes (168.5s). This stands as a powerful indicator of engagement for sensitive content, confirming that the material successfully sustained users’ attention and encouraged meaningful interaction without leading to digital fatigue.

Symptoms: The page recorded 5,151 views, establishing the website as an immediate and reliable source of preventive information.

At the same time, the optimization of user flows and the strategic placement of touchpoints contributed to direct conversions:

User Base Growth: During the first six months, the number of registered volunteers, organizational supporters, and new newsletter subscribers increased by 24.2% (excluding participation in conferences, events, and programs), validating the use of multiple data collection forms.

Offline Mobilization: The website functioned as a source for mobilizing users toward offline actions, such as participation in workshops/conferences, expressions of interest in lung cancer screening, and other FairLife L.C.C. activities.

Benefits for Οrganization

The new digital infrastructure substantially strengthened FairLife L.C.C.’s presence and brand authority, with branded CTR reaching 35.97% and organic impressions increasing by 6.65%. At the same time, the optimization of user flows and the strategic placement of multiple touchpoints enabled the organization to collect data securely and build a stronger, more consistent relationship with its community. Within the first six months, the number of registered volunteers, supporters of the organization, and new newsletter subscribers increased by 24.2%.

In addition, the reorganization of the content created an exemplary, “clean” Knowledge Base, which became the foundation and exclusive data source for FairLife L.C.C.’s AI Assistant. As a result, the organization developed a modern and evolving Digital Health ecosystem that continuously supports access to information, data collection, community growth, and user mobilization across both online and offline initiatives.
