The Information Society s.a.e. is the central hub for the design, development and implementation of Information and Communication (ICT) projects of the Ministry of Digital Governance in the Public Sector.

It plays a leading role in the national plan of digital transformation by implementing projects and state aid actions described in the country's Digital Transformation Bible.

The Information Society participates institutionally in the specialization of the country's digital strategy, implements ICT projects funded by the EU Structural and Investment Funds, the Public Investment Program, the Recovery Fund or through Public Private Partnerships, supports the identification of needs of Public Administration bodies in ICT projects and provides specialized support to bodies throughout the life cycle of the ICT projects they have been called upon to implement.

With great know-how and experience in designing, implementing, and managing innovative projects and e-government actions, its purpose today is to assist the Ministry of Digital Governance in all actions and projects aimed at:

  • Upgrading the electronic service of citizens and businesses,
  • Transparency,
  • Enhancing entrepreneurship and healthy competition,
  • Achieving interoperability at all levels,
  • The increase of productivity and efficiency of public organizations and the general improvement of Public Administration.

Objective Action

The "Info Students Day" action was developed in 2023 by the Information Society Communication Directorate.

The important role played by the Information Society in the digital transformation of the state concerns all citizens, but especially the new generation, into whose hands we must deliver the knowledge and know-how that we have acquired in our more than 22 years of operation.

Young people are our tomorrow's partners, colleagues, executives of the Contractors and the Bodies with which we collaborate.

The aim of the action is to prepare them and introduce them to our actions, giving them the stimulus for their further engagement with the digital world.

Target Audience

The action is addressed to students of public and private universities in Greece

Duration

Indefinite.

Given the great interest taken by the university community in our activities, we hope that the action will go on and grow in the years to come.

Description

"Ιnformation Society" is the central planning, development and implementation hub of the Ministry of Digital Governance for implementing ICT projects and plays a major role in Greece’s national Digital Transformation plan.

One of the strategic objectives of ‘Information Society’ is to serve as a knowledge center on issues relating to the whole life cycle of public sector ICT projects.

To attain this objective, it implements a variety of outreach activities with a view to disseminating its role and the benefits of digital transformation.

This action aims to bring together new university students in the digital project implementation laboratory, to inform and mobilize new scientists about the digital projects it implements and about its active role in the Digital Transformation of Greece.

How it works:

The Directorate for Communication of ‘Information Society’ organizes, in cooperation with the relevant university departments and professors, a training workshop for students at the headquarters of ‘Information Society’. The subject-matters of the training programs are different depending on the discipline that guest students are pursuing in university.

The action (Info Students Day) was launched on Wednesday, 10 May 2023 and was organized by the Directorate for Communication of ‘Information Society’. ‘Information Society’ officials welcomed the first 25 students of the Department of International, European and Regional Studies of the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, led by the Assistant Professor Mr. Charalambos Platias, and informed them about the operation of ‘Information Society’, the important Digital Transformation projects implemented in the Greek Public Administration and the role of ‘Information Society’ in Sustainable Development. The presentation provided students with information on how ‘Information Society’ operates, its participation in drawing up and deciding on the specifics of the Digital Transformation Bible, the program agreements, the number of support projects and actions in the various phases of maturity.

This was followed in the same year by a workshop for students of the Management Information Systems Department of the American College of Greece (Deree). Students were informed about the implementation method and the successful transition of public administration and society to the new digital era, the upgrading of public IT and telecommunications infrastructure, the modernization of the relationship of citizens and businesses with the Hellenic State, and the accessibility of state-of-the-art digital services for all. Students were informed extensively about major flagship digital projects, such as G-Cloud, as well as about Greece’s major financing funds such as the ‘Greece 2.0’ Recovery Fund.

Benefits for Οrganization

This is a very important action for ‘Information Society’, in terms of the outreach of its work. The general public comes in contact and communication with the executives involved in helping people enjoy better digital services and infrastructure.

What is of particular importance to us is strengthening our corporate culture through this action as, in addition to the normal professional obligations we have as ‘Information Society’ executives, we are called upon to work together to jointly organize the training plan for guest students and to provide them with all-round and understandable information on how digital transformation projects are implemented.
