Objective Action

The challenge of the transition from education to employment and the support of young people along this process is one of our key priorities. Thus, for at least thirty years we have been taking several major initiatives in this area and we are always looking out for innovative ways to help young people develop the necessary skills, evolve into professionals and take their turn in supporting the future of our coutry. The specific initiative started when a major problem was identified: during their studies, the future graduates do not receive the necessary knowledge on matters of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), although it constitutes a top priority in industry. This creates a deficit in valuable skills and knowledge and, more importantly, in the way applied in the workplace. TITAN, consistently committed to remaining by the side of young people in various ways, once again makes use of its knowhow and places at their disposal the most appropriate tools and the best possible opportunities, through strong collaborations.

Target Audience

Experienced, graduated engineers from the local community of Drepano plant in Patras.

Duration

The duration of the programme was 2 days.

Description

Responding to a call from the Technical Chamber of Greece/Department of Western Greece, in collaboration with the Federation of Enterprises and Industries of Peloponnese and Western Greece and using our top-level knowhow and practice in terms of OHS, we organized and ran a two-day training programme for engineers on OHS matters. The group of 22 participants included graduate engineers who are locally active as freelancers, employees or entrepreneurs, all with work experience.

The programme comprised of both theoretical and practical, on-the-field modules. The participants visited the plant’s facilities, divided in groups per speciality, to gain first-hand experience of the production process and the application of the various OHS strategies and procedures. Our emloyees are the precious allies in this drive to establish a broader culture of education and training in a constantly changing environment, who voluntary offer their time and experience with great enthusiasm. An equally important aspect of this initiatives was the exchange of views and experiences among the team members and the trainers as well.
