Affidea consistently invests in innovation, technology and sustainable development, placing people at the centre of its strategy and aiming to continuously enhance the quality of healthcare services while strengthening patient safety. Within this framework, the Group has implemented the Dose Excellence Program across Europe, a comprehensive initiative designed to optimise and manage radiation dose in computed tomography (CT) examinations.
Launched in 2014, the programme is now implemented across all Affidea CT scanners in Greece and throughout Europe, contributing to a reduction in radiation dose of up to 40%, without any compromise in diagnostic image quality.
Through continuous investment in advanced technology, innovation, highly skilled professionals and robust quality systems, Affidea demonstrates that responsible investment in healthcare can simultaneously generate clinical value, social benefit and sustainable growth, while always keeping people at the heart of its mission.

The programme represents a strategic investment with a long-term positive impact for both patients and the healthcare system. It enhances patient safety and diagnostic quality while contributing to the overall efficiency, sustainability and resilience of healthcare services, reinforcing a model of care that balances clinical excellence with responsible resource management.
The programme was launched in 2014 and has been continuously implemented to the present day.
The Dose Excellence Program is supported by a robust clinical governance framework that ensures the implementation of standardised protocols and best practices across all Affidea centres. The framework includes the systematic monitoring of quality and radiation dose indicators, continuous training and education of healthcare professionals, and full alignment with international safety and quality standards.
At the same time, the ongoing optimisation of CT imaging protocols, the adjustment of technical parameters such as tube current and tube voltage, and the use of next-generation CT scanners equipped with advanced image reconstruction algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) applications contribute to the optimal use of technology and more efficient energy consumption. These measures help maintain the highest standards of diagnostic image quality while ensuring patient safety and supporting a more sustainable healthcare model.

The programme represents a strategic investment with a long-term positive impact on both patients and the healthcare system, as it integrates:
Through this integrated approach, the programme strengthens clinical performance while promoting a more efficient, sustainable and patient-centred healthcare model.
Today, it is implemented across all Affidea CT scanners in Greece, as well as in 130 centres across Europe.

This approach is aligned with the philosophy of “sustainable radiology”, a modern vision of radiology that integrates technological innovation with sustainable development, environmental responsibility, patient safety, and high-quality patient care.
The international recognition of this strategy is reflected in the distinction awarded to all Affidea diagnostic centres in Greece, as well as 130 centres across Europe, which have received the 5-star EuroSafe Imaging Stars rating from the European Society of Radiology (ESR). These centres have also been included in the EuroSafe “Wall of Stars”, confirming their high standards of quality, safety, and responsible clinical practice.
Through continuous investment in technology, innovation, human capital, and quality systems, Affidea demonstrates in practice that responsible healthcare investment can simultaneously generate clinical value, social impact, and sustainable development, always keeping people at the centre of its mission.
