Description

At KPMG we recognize the benefits of quality education and lifelong learning.

Through our actions, we ensure that we promote the 4th goal of Sustainable Development of the UN. for quality education, as it is an inalienable right of citizens living in a modern inclusive society. Although the right to education should not meet geographical barriers, it is a fact that critical areas of Greece have serious deficiencies in schools regarding the educational material that should be provided to children from the school library.

Through our contribution to the work of the Hellenic Book Club we have managed to help both in achieving this goal and in fulfilling the second pillar of KPMG's Corporate Responsibility action for "lifelong learning" as we operate throughout Greece in order to enrich school libraries and therefore to offer intellectual stimuli and knowledge supplies to the new generation, contributing essentially to their spiritual cultivation.

The innovation of the above program lies in the fact that a central management and coordination system has been created for libraries in schools from all over Greece and teachers and parents are given the opportunity to highlight any needs and deficiencies encountered in their place in terms of education. The process of enriching school libraries is not simple, as it is preceded by an assessment of the needs of each place. The selection of books to be given to a school serves exactly the deficiencies and is not done vaguely. In this way, the effectiveness of the work of the Hellenic Book Club is ensured. In addition, the Hellenic Book Club has managed to make the book a social issue and not just a personal one. In addition to the above service that it provides to the schools of Greece, it gives the opportunity to those who wish to contribute practically to its work and to the promotion of the importance of the book, through actions such as the purchase of books from the Hellenic Book Club with the aim of maintaining the sustainability of the club, participating in school library enrichment processes, reading books with the perspective of having a discussion about them, and much more. KPMG executives, thanks to our collaboration with the Hellenic Book Club, have now recognized the importance of the book in people's lives and choose to contribute individually to the above actions as they put the company's values into practice every day and work to create a positive impact on society.
