Description

For Lamda Development, environmental responsibility is a parameter of strategic importance in its activity.

With well-thought-out distribution, modern architectural design and standard auxiliary services, the company's shopping centers aim to ensure their environmentally friendly operation, in the context of sustainable development and responsible entrepreneurship. More specifically, in shopping centers there are installed central control systems (Building Management Systems) that ensure the monitoring of energy consumption and the implementation of appropriate operating schedules for lighting and air conditioning, optimizing energy consumption and maximizing energy efficiency. In addition, special emphasis is placed on recycling, while the most sophisticated practices and procedures for waste management are applied. In health stores, strict specifications are followed by the installation of an array of filters in the ventilation systems in order to minimize the impact on air quality. The air quality in the underground car parks of the shopping centers is continuously monitored by a special automatic installation, so that the air is kept at constant permissible levels.

At the same time, Flisvos Marina implements ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified procedures, which concern an integrated solid and liquid waste management system, systematic sea quality control and educational activities on port environmental issues for crews, pupils and students of all of education levels, winning important honors, such as a Blue Flag and 5 Golden Anchors from corresponding European programs. It is also certified for Commitment to Business Excellence by EFQM.

Finally, the development of the Metropolitan Pole Hellinikon - Ag. Cosmas with a dominant parameter of the construction is the creation of a Metropolitan Park with a total area of 2,000,000 sq.m., it will be characterized by the application of environmentally friendly planning, based on the principles of sustainability. In addition, the upgrading, consolidation and utilization of the coastal front and the connection of the city with the sea will be an important environmental and social objective of the Integrated Development Plan. The project in Elliniko concerns a standard urban regeneration with a smart cities design incorporating the latest technologies. The development of Hellinikon will have a very low average building factor, less than 0.5, and looks forward to the creation of a new life experience that includes recreation, wellness, culture and at the same time, the protection of the natural landscape, climate and cultural heritage of the place.

Impact on Society

Energy consumption

The total energy consumed in 2020 in the Company's investment properties was structured as follows:

  • The Mall Athens (with shopkeepers): 19,180,666 KWh
  • Golden Hall (with shopkeepers): 18,269,315 KWh
  • Mediterranean Cosmos (excluding shopkeepers): 6,909,427 KWh

Accordingly, the data for natural gas consumption in 2020 was formed as follows:

  • The Mall Athens: 571,099 KWh
  • Golden Hall: 1,734,266 KWh
  • Mediterranean Cosmos (excluding shopkeepers): 2,288,994 KWh

Water consumption

Regarding the annual water consumption for 2020 by the Company's facilities, the volumes were as follows:

  • The Mall Athens: 35,327 m3
  • Golden Hall: 35,297 m3
  • Mediterranean Cosmos: 74,953 m3

Responsible Waste Management

Lamda Development's shopping centers apply the most modern waste management practices and procedures with an emphasis on recycling. In this context, the following have been foreseen:

  • Segregation at source of waste streams (collection in six separate bins).
  • Minimizing the percentage of waste going to landfill, both during construction and during the operational phase.
  • Reuse, recycle and recover construction waste, reducing the proportion that ends up in landfills and making optimal use of demolition materials and methods.

2020 rollover figures:

  • The Mall Athens: 341,750 kg of recycled materials
  • Golden Hall: 698,450 kg of materials to be sorted and managed
  • Mediterranean Cosmos: 201,292 kg of recycled materials

The work of Ellinikos Elliniko is the largest urban regeneration project in Europe. The project will focus on the development of a Metropolitan Park, which is the most anticipated development of the project. The Hellinikon Metropolitan Park will be a unique green lung for the southern suburbs, organically connected to the city and the sea front and at the same time open and easily accessible to everyone. It will combine a multitude of uses with beautiful paths that will be offered for idyllic walks, cycling routes in nature, top sports facilities with basketball and tennis courts, a swimming complex and indoor gyms, squares and recreational areas. All the above developments will be surrounded by an impressive forest of deciduous trees and a beautiful Mediterranean garden, creating a real oasis of green that will upgrade and uniquely highlight the hitherto least exploited part of the Athenian Riviera.

By transforming the area of the former airport into a huge green space, in addition to the aesthetic upgrading of the area, the microclimate and air quality of the area will be significantly improved, offering residents a living lung of coolness as the average temperature will decrease in the summer months that in recent years they have become increasingly warm.

In addition, as part of the project, a series of public interest projects are expected, with the aim of reducing the traffic load in the southern suburbs and facilitating residents and visitors. The major project of the undergrounding of Posidonos Avenue will cover part of the road in the area of Agios Kosmas with the aim of reducing traffic jams and the targeted channeling of cars. A complementary project, but equally important, which is part of the same planning, is the extension of Line 2 of the metro from Elliniko to Glyfada and also the extension of the tram line from L.Posidonos to L.Vouliagmenis to Argyroupoli Metro station . These transport projects will be framed by a series of additional infrastructures, such as footbridges and underpasses that will improve the daily life of the residents and make visiting Elliniko easier and more immediate. At the same time, tenders are being planned for the network of sewage treatment and water resources management facilities, a pioneering project that, in addition to covering the irrigation needs of the Metropolitan Park of Hellinikon, aspires to offer significant quantities of water for the corresponding needs of the neighboring municipalities of the project as well as various other areas of Attica. It is noted that the total of all the above projects corresponds to funds of 390-480 million euros with the auctions of the first phase expected within the next months.

Numerical data of the Elliniko project:

  • Metropolitan Park with a total area of 2,000,000 sq.m.
  • Coastal Front total length: 3.5 km
  • Total area of green spaces: 600,000 sq.m.
  • Sandy beach on the Coastal Front, total length: 1.5 km
  • Total length of the network of pedestrian and bicycle routes: 50 km
  • Coverage ratio: lower than 35%

Elliniko: A smart and sustainable city

The project in Elliniko is the model of a standard urban regeneration with the integration of the most modern technologies. Among other things, the project integrates smart infrastructures of irrigation systems, smart water management, smart lighting, modern connectivity possibilities, and even smart buildings equipped with the most innovative infrastructures that ensure ergonomics and comfort. At the same time, there will be smart mobility capabilities and infrastructure with smart traffic and transport management systems, while there is planning for smart energy resource management systems to ensure sustainable energy consumption. Finally, smart waste management systems will optimize waste and waste sorting efficiency by emphasizing recycling and reuse of materials.

Initiative Location
