PEDIATRIC TRAUMA CARE

Upgrading the Paediatric Departments of the Public Hospitals and Health Centers in Greece

Our goal is to upgrade and equip the Paediatric Departments and Clinics of the Public Hospitals and Health Centers in Greece with the necessary machinery, so that doctors can provide the best possible medical care to their young patients.

Children from infancy to the age of 16 years old who visit the public Hospitals of Greece.

From 2010 to the present date.

The upgrading and donation of equipment to Paediatric Departments is of vital importance. Due to the lack of proper, modern equipment, as well as the large amount of cases they are called to cover, the doctors in public Hospitals face great difficulties, and the children do not always receive the optimal treatment and care.

We constantly receive new requests from Paediatric Departments of Hospitals and Health Centers throughout the country and we try to respond to all of them, offering necessary medical equipment wherever it is required. The amount of requests increased even more after the pandemic, which highlighted the vital need to strengthen the country’s Healthcare System, and brought to light the significant shortage of proper equipment that exists in the public Hospitals.

With the support of the members, sponsors, donors and friends of our Charity, and without any government funding, we donate necessary medical equipment to the Paediatric Departments of Hospitals and Health Centers throughout Greece.

Our goal is to ensure that our children will lead healthy and prosperous lives.

We work with companies, charitable Foundations and private individuals in order to equip the Paediatric Departments in the Public Hospitals.

Our work in upgrading the Paediatric Departments helps improve the quality of health care provided to children who visit the Paediatric Departments and Clinics in the public Hospitals and Health Centers of the country.

The Departments that have been upgraded can now provide more immediate and effective medical care to the visiting children. Supporting all Paediatric Departments with the donation of equipment is of vital importance especially in remote areas and the islands of Greece, which have limited access to Hospital Units with more advanced equipment, particularly during the winter months.

Since the initiative began in 2010, we have managed to upgrade and equip 156 Paediatric Departments in 130 Hospitals and Health Centers in Greece, offering a total of 1.987 machines and equipment.

Furthermore, we decided to introduce the subject and importance of Trauma Prevention to the Paediatric Hospitals. To that end, we sent our educational brochures on Trauma Prevention (e.g. “Safety at the Playground”, “Swimming Saves Lives”, etc.) to the Hospitals and Health Centers we have equipped up to now, in order to inform the parents visiting the Hospitals. So far, we have distributed more than 121.000 brochures.

According to the statistics of the Hospitals we have equipped, from 2010 up to the present date more than 3.447.700 children have benefitted from our Charity’s work.

Our work in upgrading and equipping the Paediatric Departments in a large number of Hospitals throughout Greece brings us closer to our ultimate goal of improving the quality of medical care provided to the children in our country.
