  • European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS): Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and regulatory compliance, AIA has prepared the Sustainability Statement for FY2025 in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) for the second consecutive year. This Statement is also prepared in line with Article 29a of EU Directive 2013/34/EU, including compliance with the requirements of the ESRS, compliance with Article 8 of EU Regulation 2020/852 (the “Taxonomy Regulation”). Within this context, an overview of AIA’s sustainability performance is depicted through the following indicative quantitative indicators. On the environmental dimension, gross Scope 1 emissions decreased by 5.6% compared with FY2024, 37,692 MWh of renewable electricity were generated on site, nearly 70% of non-hazardous waste generated at the Airport was recycled, and 459,660 m³ of treated water was reused for irrigation. On the social dimension, 54,974 employee training hours were delivered, employee turnover rate remained low, at 4%, while 36.6% of AIA’s workforce were women. Finally, economic and governance disclosures include €207.3 million in net profit, and 93% of total procurement spent being directed to local suppliers. A dedicated Sustainability Strategic Planning & Reporting function coordinates the sustainability reporting process across relevant business areas, supporting consistent data collection, review and consolidation, and alignment with AIA’s strategic objectives and applicable regulatory and reporting requirements. The FY2025 Sustainability Statement has also been subject to independent limited assurance by EY, further supporting the reliability and credibility of the sustainability information disclosed.
  • United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)/ Communication on Progress (CoP): The Company sustainably commits to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Within AIA’s sphere of influence, AIA has been committed since 2008 to supporting and advancing the 10 principles of the Global Compact in respect to human rights, labour rights, the protection of the environment and anti-corruption. Recognizing that global challenges necessitate the transformation of business models and the integration of globally recognised values into everyday business practice, AIA’s business activities are either directly or indirectly correlated and interacting with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. As stated in the submitted Communication on Progress (CoP) by the Sustainability Strategic Planning and Reporting Department (SPR), AIA achieved the Global Compact (GC) Advanced Level qualification in 2022. AIA’s FY2025 submission is currently marked as “submitted” with a specified status marked as “active” (https://unglobalcompact.org/what-is-gc/participants/968-Athens-International-Airport-S-A-).
  • Integration of UN Sustainable Development Goals into AIA’s Sustainability Policy: AIA has further advanced its Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) process by correlating the top material topics with the UN SDGs, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The integration of the UN SDGs into AIA’s Sustainability Policy follows the United Nations’ recommended five-step approach (1. Understanding the SDGs, 2. Defining Priorities, 3. Setting Goals, 4. Integrating, 5. Reporting & Communicating). AIA employs both the ESRS Standards and the UN SDGs’ Data Structure for describing its sustainability approach and for correlating the Company’s top material topics to broader sustainable development commitments and goals.
  • ESG Ratings: FTSE4Good - AIA has completed its submission to the FTSE4Good Index Series, following an independent ESG assessment conducted by FTSE Russell, the global index and data provider of the London Stock Exchange Group. FTSE4Good is an established ESG index family used by market participants for ESG benchmarking and sustainable investment analysis. As part of this process, AIA was independently assessed against the FTSE4Good criteria and met the requirements for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series. This index series is designed to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices and alignment with internationally recognised standards. S&P Global - Accordingly, AIA was independently assessed by S&P Global regarding the S&P Global ESG Score. The S&P Global ESG Score assesses a company’s management of material ESG risks, opportunities and impacts relative to industry peers through the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). It applies a double materiality approach, considering impacts on society and the environment, as well as on company value and long-term performance. Following AIA’s resubmission of its FY2025 data, the Company achieved a 9-point increase in its S&P Global ESG Score. Both the S&P Global and the FTSE4Good indices are used extensively by market participants to create, benchmark and evaluate responsible investment funds and related financial products.
  • Continuous improvement in sustainability reporting: AIA’s sustainability reporting approach is continuously strengthened through an iterative process of assessment, refinement, and external evaluation. Building on its first CSRD/ESRS reporting cycle, AIA further developed its Double Materiality Assessment for FY2025, strengthening the identification and prioritisation of material sustainability matters and informing the evolution of its disclosures. The FY2025 Sustainability Statement represents AIA’s second consecutive reporting cycle under the ESRS framework and is complemented by EU Taxonomy disclosures and independent limited assurance. AIA also uses external ESG assessments to benchmark its performance and identify areas for further improvement. Following the resubmission of its FY2025 data, AIA recorded a 9-point increase in its S&P Global ESG Score, providing an external indication of progress in its ESG performance and disclosure. This iterative approach supports the ongoing enhancement of the transparency, consistency and decision-usefulness of AIA’s sustainability information.
