| Transforming Marine Pollution into a Public Social and Environmental Message | ||||
|
The initiative aims to connect environmental restoration with social participation, circular economy principles and public environmental awareness. Through the “Circular Art Project”, Antipollution seeks to transform waste recovered from the seabed of port areas into material for creation and public environmental expression, while simultaneously strengthening the connection between local communities and the marine environment. The initiative is based on the belief that environmental protection should not be limited solely to pollution removal, but can also function as a starting point for generating social, cultural and environmental value through participatory and circular approaches. At the same time, the project aims to highlight a new model of environmental intervention, where waste recovery, material reuse and public artistic expression operate together to strengthen environmental awareness and promote a more sustainable relationship between citizens and coastal environments. |

|
The initiative addresses a broad range of stakeholders, including local communities, port and institutional authorities, educational and cultural organizations, visitors of the area, as well as professionals active within coastal and marine environments. Through the public and participatory nature of the project, the initiative aims to strengthen environmental awareness and encourage a more active dialogue around marine pollution, circular economy and sustainable resource management. |

| The initiative is being developed throughout 2026, from the planning stage through implementation, with the objective of creating a lasting public environmental and artistic footprint. |

Antipollution is designing and implementing the “Circular Art Project” in the area of Igoumenitsa, an initiative that redefines the way environmental restoration can be connected with society, culture and sustainable development. At the core of the initiative lies both a practical and symbolic transformation: objects and waste that have remained for years on the seabed of the port, burdening the marine environment, are recovered and given a new life as carriers of public expression and environmental awareness. The initiative begins with seabed clean-up operations within the port area, where specialized teams proceed with the recovery of accumulated waste and abandoned materials. Until now, objects that have formed part of an invisible form of pollution are removed from the marine environment and reintegrated into a new creative process. The recovered materials are then cleaned, sorted and repurposed, not only as reusable materials but also as objects carrying history, texture, memory and environmental footprint. Through collaboration with the artistic community, these materials are transformed into public artwork, creating a strong symbol of transition from pollution to creation and from waste to social value. The initiative does not approach pollution removal as an isolated technical process, but as an opportunity to activate society and reconnect citizens with the marine environment. Through the public visibility of the project, the environmental challenge becomes visible, human and collective, strengthening environmental awareness and public dialogue around sustainability and circular economy. At the same time, the initiative highlights a different approach to environmental protection, where environmental intervention, art, participation and social impact operate as interconnected elements of a shared sustainable experience. |

The implementation of the initiative is based on the collaboration of Antipollution with professionals from the artistic sector, specialized diving teams and organizations associated with port and local activities within the area. This cross-sectoral approach strengthens the participatory nature of the initiative and contributes to linking environmental restoration with the social and cultural dimensions of the project. |

| The initiative is supported by the participation of Antipollution employees in coordination, environmental management and operational support activities, strengthening employees’ connection with the principles of circular economy and environmental responsibility. At the same time, the public dimension of the project encourages interaction and engagement with the local community. |

| The “Circular Art Project” seeks to create a multidimensional environmental and social impact, transforming a pollution-removal initiative into a public experience of environmental awareness, participation and creation. On an environmental level, the initiative contributes to the removal of waste from the seabed of the Igoumenitsa port area, supporting the protection of the marine ecosystem while actively promoting responsible waste management practices. Through the reuse of recovered materials, the initiative also applies circular economy principles in practice, giving new value to objects that previously constituted environmental burden. However, the impact of the initiative extends beyond the environmental intervention itself. By transforming recovered waste into public artwork, the project creates a new form of communication with society, making visible an issue that usually remains hidden beneath the sea surface. The environmental message gains a physical presence within the public space and acts as a trigger for awareness, reflection and reconnection with the marine environment. At the same time, the initiative strengthens the relationship between the local community and the port area, promoting a different perception of public space and environmental responsibility. By connecting pollution removal with art and public participation, sustainability becomes a tangible and collective experience rather than an abstract concept. On a social level, the project strengthens public dialogue around marine pollution, circular economy and natural resource protection, creating conditions for greater environmental awareness and active participation. Overall, the “Circular Art Project” seeks to transform environmental protection into an open and participatory experience with meaningful social impact, where pollution removal, creativity and sustainability function as interconnected elements of a shared effort towards a more responsible and sustainable future. |

The initiative strengthens Antipollution’s strategic position as an organization that approaches sustainability through combined environmental and social interventions with meaningful public impact. Through the “Circular Art Project”, the company demonstrates its ability to transform environmental challenges into opportunities for generating social value, while applying in practice the principles of circular economy, environmental restoration and sustainable development. At the same time, the initiative operates as a model for innovative environmental interventions within port and coastal environments, strengthening Antipollution’s corporate image and reinforcing its connection with sustainable and socially responsible entrepreneurship. |
