Support of local communities in the fires in Euboea and Peloponnese

At Bayer, Corporate Social Responsibility is at the core of our corporate strategy and we work every day with passion, consistency and continuity to have a positive impact on society. Through constant interaction with local communities, we listen to the needs of our fellow citizens in their daily lives, but also in times of crisis. We undertake actions aimed at immediate relief, long-term rehabilitation and the prevention of situations that concern our country. A typical example is our contribution to the management of the catastrophic fires of August 2021, where the tripartite of immediate intervention - restoration and prevention was put into full effect. August 2021

The summer of 2021 was a particularly difficult time for our country as the outbreaks of fire followed one another. In fact, in August 2021 devastating fires hit Euboea and the Peloponnese. From the first moment, our company stood by the side of these areas, strengthening the effort to extinguish the outbreaks. In just a few hours we were at the forefront of the events. The main mode of action was the provision of pharmaceutical products, basic necessities and reinforcement of rural doctors. The action was implemented in collaboration with the Non-Governmental Organization DESMOS. At the same time, to ensure a reduction in the risk of fires, we are participating in FIREATHON, an initiative that tries to fight fires using applications.

The company supplied the firefighting teams with 1342 pharmaceutical products and first aid items. Supporting local communities by supporting local rural doctors. In particular, we donated 30,000 euros to strengthen equipment and cover needs in rural clinics. At the same time, in order to make sure that everyone would be ready in the next fire event, we have an active role in FIREATHON which gives birth to applications that fight fires. The WTFire app is Live while the MCMS (Municipality Crisis Management System) is in its pilot phase.
