In a deprived neighborhood of Kolonos, a living cell is born that will bring joy, increase cultural awareness and act as a benchmark which will upgrade the whole region.

Following our work in Athens, we focused on the creation of our new building. It was created at Kolonos area in Athens and it concerns the remodeling of an existing four-storey building - old craft, unique of its kind in Greece, which will act as a care center for mothers and children with family problems.

In a deprived neighborhood a living cell is born in order to bring joy and increase cultural awareness and it will act as a benchmark which it will upgrade the whole region.

Also, it will create new positions in the respective areas of service that will be housed in the new building. This helps towards the unemployment problem that our country and our society face in the recent years.

The precise building promotes culture and social solidarity and it can be considered as a public good in the area of Athens. The inauguration will be held in autumn of 2016.

At a time that the welfare state is increasingly shrinking, this action will relieve significant proportion of distressed population, it will help children to stay in school, receive an appropriate education and find work.

It includes:

• A nursery which will provide all services and care to infants who come in the “Ark of the World” with a court order or orphaned or abandoned infants. This involves infants new born and up to kindergarten.
• A Kindergarten- nursery school
• A dining room that serves 1,300 people,
• A seven halls grades for auxiliary learning, where we will give the opportunity to children through remedial teaching not only to progress in their lessons but also to slowly become integrated characters and join the society ready to offer through social awareness programs
• A clinic, a library, a social service office, a psychologist, an employment and vocational training and all other support services,
• Twenty-two housing spaces with separate kitchen and bathroom for 2-4 persons each, a decent residence for people seeking our help.
• A cultural hall.

Our new center will be considered itself a book that whoever comes in receives messages of optimism, hope, courage and love. We have already proceeded with the construction of illuminated panels, which will be harmoniously integrated into the building areas, with themes that will refer to the respective messages.

The new center of the “Ark of the World” has literally blossomed after emerging with its colors and stand out in gray and dull color of the Kolonos area and gives life messages, struggle and hope in the delinquency and misery in the region.

Addressed to vulnerable social groups and those people affected by the crisis.
