Smart Factory and production efficiency

Elval’s collaboration with OptiScale, a company of the ELTRUN Laboratory at the Athens University of Economics and Business, highlighted a new production-scheduling model designed to respond to potential increases in production capacity. It employs modern, flexible methods of resource management and process optimization, with an emphasis on saving energy and resources while maintaining quality.

The optimization model was presented at the 8th Smart Factory conference and will be presented at the CPAIOR 2025 conference in Melbourne. The presentation, titled ‘Redefining the Boundaries of Optimization in Aluminum Rolling,’ highlighted the advantages of customized solutions over standardized off-the-shelf tools. Key points included the challenges of production scheduling for slab preheating and hot rolling, the benefits of using tailored solutions versus general-purpose tools, and the potential to apply these principles to other industrial sectors. Elval’s collaboration with OptiScale underscored the importance of partnership between academic research and industrial experience in achieving future goals.
