"Let's Recycle" School Championship 2020 - 2021

The initiative reffered to kindergartens and primary schools of the Municipality of Ioannina in order to learn the students about the management practices of recyclable materials and to raise awareness on recycling issues.

The initiative reffered to kindergartens and primary schools of the Municipality of Ioannina in order to learn the students about the management practices of recyclable materials and to raise awareness on recycling issues. 
The school championship was implemented by the Municipality of Ioannina in collaboration with the Directorate of Primary Education of Ioannina in the framework of the Followgreen initiative.
The parents of the students had an active role in the conduct of the tournament, as they had the opportunity to donate through the platform up to 100 points to the respective school per month. A total of 93,195 points were donated. On Friday, June 18, 2021 at 14:00 p.m. the award ceremony of the schools was successfully held at the Cultural Complex "Dim. Chatzis ”, (Old Slaughterhouses) of the Municipality of Ioannina, where the first schools received a useful and a symbolic gift for their school unit. In addition, all schools and students who participated in the action received commendation from the Municipality for their significant effort.

The school championship was implemented by the Municipality of Ioannina in collaboration with the Directorate of Primary Education of Ioannina in the framework of the Followgreen initiative.

There was a great response from the educational community and the students' parents.
 

 

Students and teachers recycled in special bins placed in schools. In total, the following were collected:

10,560 kilos of paper
2,058 kg of plastic
48 kg batteries
134 kg of aluminum

The materials were weighed by the Municipality and each school collected reward points depending on the amount of materials recycled.
