Reduction of water wastage

Daily continuous monitoring

In our effort to stop the waste of water we have adopted rational management practices, which are applied in all hotels.

  • Water meters were placed at key points to monitor consumption per function, for example rooms, kitchens, watering, etc.
  • Mechanisms installed to limit water flows in showers, sinks and cisterns
  • Consumption is monitored through the BMS system
  • Faults that may occur in the network are systematically monitored in order to detect potential leaks in time
  • Treated water is reused for irrigation in accordance with the approved environmental operating conditions of the hotels.

More specifically, the data are as follows:

  • Total water consumption is recorded daily by 17 water meters to monitor consumption.
  • The toilets have buttons on double-flow cisterns that consume over 9 liters / 4 liters (depending on the button) of water per use.
  • The water flow in at least 50% of the showers does not exceed nine (9) liters per minute.
  • The water flow in at least 50% of the taps does not exceed nine (9) liters per minute.
  • Every dishwasher and washing machine has instructions for saving water and energy during use.
  • Dishwasher and laundry equipment are for professional use and not common household appliances.
  • The gardens, whose area is estimated at 180,000 m2, are 80% automatically watered using electric valves. The electric valves are activated via Wifi in the afternoon, evening and early morning hours to minimize water evaporation due to temperature. With a view to reducing water consumption, our company has adopted a different approach to garden flora. Gradually, the lawn is minimized while aromatic and other plants are planted in its place, which are consistent with the flora of the area and have low to zero watering needs.
