Supporting the National Health System during the COVID-19 pandemic

Patients with COVID-19 who could not be served by the national health system

The Euroclinic Group, responding to the needs of the epidemiological situation and in direct cooperation with the Ministry of Health, granted the building of the Children's Euroclinic, which was set up and staffed appropriately, with the aim of exclusively treating and treating patients with COVID-19, without being affected at least its operation.

More specifically:

  • we allocated 60 beds in the NHS for the treatment of cases with covid-19
  • An extraordinary interdisciplinary committee chaired by the CEO of the company was convened to implement the decision at the Euroclinic
  • It was decided to dispose of the Athanasiadou 7 building, which houses the facilities of the Pediatric department.

With perfect cooperation and excellent coordination, under the condition of unprecedented experiences, within a few days an entire ward was prepared to welcome this special category of our fellow human beings.

Actions that took place:

  • A group of nursing and auxiliary staff was organized who went to public hospital facilities for special training
  • A special strict protocol was prepared for the reception and holistic nursing care of these patients
  • A flow plan for patients, workers, materials, medicines, clothing, meals and a plan for isolating the ward from the rest of the clinic was drawn up in collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
  • A medical team was organized for coordination, reception and medical care of these patients.
  • 4 hospital floors were prepared from pediatrics to specialists for the treatment of covid-19 cases.
  • On one floor, special O2 supplies were installed for the ventilatory support needs of patients with AIR VO2 devices.
  • A special emergency and cardiopulmonary resuscitation team was organized, a double room with portable ventilators was prepared and equipped to support patients until they were transferred to a Covid-19 ICU of the NHS.

Of the 149 covid patients:

  • All received a high standard of care safely
  • 139 were discharged in good standing,
  • 6 were intubated of which 3 were delivered intubated to the COVID ICU and 3 did not make it.
  • A total of 7 failed (mortality 4.7%)


Of the 34 covid patients:

  • All received a high standard of care safely
  • 33 were discharged in good standing,
  • 1 was intubated and failed.
  • Overall 1 failed (mortality 2.9%)

Thanks to the strict adherence to protocols by all, there was no spread of COVID19 to the staff, nor to the non-COVID wing of the clinic nor to external partners

Partnership with the National Health System

Specially trained doctors and nursing staff were actively involved during the hospitalization of COVID cases. Specifically, 41 doctors (Pathologists, Pulmonologists, Anesthesiologists, Pathologists, Cardiologists, Oncologists and Rheumatologists) and 24 specialized nurses participated.
