ESG Strategy: “Caring for the Future”

Through the Corporate Social Responsibility Report, our Company aims to shed light both on the strategy and the annual activities on Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Issues. Reporting is also an effective way to disclose its performance on Environmental, Social and Governance data (ESG).

 

The adoption of the Code of Conduct serves as a guideline for our Company’s set of principles and the acceptable behaviors and norms, based on the ethical standards, values, and mission of our organization.

The Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report addresses to all company stakeholders having a vested interest in the Company’s operations and performance. The Shareholders, the Suppliers, the Clients and the Consumers, the Employees, the Government, the Media, The Academic Members, the Non-Profit Organizations, and the Local Communities.

 

The Code of Conduct applies to all the employees regardless hierarchy, as well as the consultants, partners, and suppliers of our Company.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility Report: From 2018 till today

Code of Conduct: The renewal has taken place in December 2021.

  • The Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report under the title “Caring for the Future” is the formulation of our Company’s holistic approach on ESG factors. More specifically, we implement specific strategy and policies regarding ESG compliance that embeds sustainability and covers all company’s activities.

 

  • The main pillars of our strategic goals towards sustainability are the “Food safety and quality standards”, “Reduction of the environmental footprint”, “Prioritizing our People”, “Supporting the local communities and society”.

 

Caring for our products, we focus on the production of high nutritional value products with excellent quality. We carefully select the raw materials from local farmers and suppliers, implementing the strictest criteria regarding quality assurance, having our consumers’ health and safety as a top priority. At the same time, for continuing to enjoy a heathy growth, we emphasize in new investments, research and development of innovative products and technology.

Caring for the environment, we act having in mind to minimize our environmental footprint. In these terms, we focus on energy saving and switch to renewable resources, while we are the first dairy company in Southeastern Europe that has installed an integrated liquid waste treatment plant that produces biogas. Also, we have adopted advanced technologies for the reuse of water and conservation of natural resources. Furthermore, we extensively use eco-friendly packaging solutions, including recycled PET (r-PET) and plant-based packaging materials. In the meantime, we are especially committed to addressing the issue of Food Waste, by raising awareness among employees, enhancing consumer knowledge, and ensuring coordinated actions against food waste.

Caring for our people, we set as high priority their health and safety, in a respectful and creative work environment, investing in unstoppable training sessions and fair evaluation systems.

Caring for our society, we are engaged to provide moral and material support to the Greek Society. An example for which we are proud of, is the donation of 20 intensive care units to local hospitals, during the pandemic.

 

Trust as the key for success. We behave according to the highest standards of morality and ethics, for staying reliable towards all the stakeholders. In this way, we protect and optimize our reputation and at the same time we reduce the costs of our business activities. We are committed to doing the right things and act according to the Code of Conduct, with integrity and professionalism.

Hellenic Dairies S.A. has created the ESG Management Team, for a better and holistic approach on Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Issues. Consisted of 5 core members whose role is the coordination of the relevant actions and initiatives and the information gathering regarding the annual publication of the Company’s CSR reports. Their duties are further supported and embraced by other 14 members – representatives from almost all the Company Departments.
