MUNICIPALITY OF ARTA
Development of a Plan for Sustainable Energy and for Sustainable Urban Mobility

Ensuring the sustainable development of the Municipality of Artaia.

Citizens of Artaion and visitors of the Municipality.

The two projects were completed in 2018 and the duration of the implementation of the projects they include in order to fully achieve the goals set for them concerns a decade.

The Municipality of Artaia prepared through the EP Epirus the Plan for Sustainable Energy and for Sustainable Urban Mobility in the Municipality of Artaia.

The Sustainable Energy plan includes actions to reduce greenhouse gases such as:

  • Energy upgrade of municipal buildings
  • Replacement of the Municipality's conventional lighting fixtures with energy-saving ones.
  • Replacing polluting municipal vehicles with energy-efficient ones.
  • Actions to raise awareness among citizens for the implementation of energy saving practices in the domestic, agricultural and secondary sectors.
  • Promotion of renewable energy sources.
  • Bioclimatic renovations of common areas and creation of green spaces.

The cost of the study's actions amounts to €65,000,000.00 in order for the Municipality of Artaion to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases by 40% by 2030 and to join the Covenant of Mayors.

The plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility proposes actions to improve accessibility conditions and simultaneously protect the environment such as:

  • Addressing the parking problems in the city of Arta, by implementing controlled parking and creating outdoor vehicle parking areas.
  • Improving the service of citizens by the Public Transport System.
  • Bicycle traffic network inside and outside the city of Arta.
  • Projects to enhance pedestrian movement in the city.
  • Pedestrian improvement projects in other settlements of the Municipality.
  • Reform of the operation of the Arta Regional Roads and construction of new perimeter roads to decongest the central arteries.
  • Improving connectivity between settlements to reduce commuting distances.

In order to draw up the plans, consultation procedures were carried out with the citizens and involved bodies through the Consultation Committee of the Municipality, which consists of representatives from all the bodies of the Municipality.

Employees of the Department of Technical Services, Cleaning and Greenery and Planning Department of the Municipality of Artaia participated.

MUNICIPALITY OF ARTA 

Our Municipality has already started the implementation of the proposed actions, departmentally according to the available resources, so that by 2025 it will be a model Municipality of Sustainable Development, with respect for citizens and the environment.
